Finalization of the expansion of a section of the road of Carrasco, which facilitates the transit of trucks due to the high agricultural and livestock activity in the area
The Ministry of Presidency and Development has carried out works of conditioning in 19 rural roads connecting 15 districts and councils with the urban center of Lorca, with the aim of improving communications in urban centers.
These actions have had an overall investment of 1.5 million euros.
The Director General of Roads, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, reported on these actions during a visit to the works that have been executed on the Carrasco Road, belonging to the Marchena deputation that has a population of more than 1,500 inhabitants.
Fernández Lladó stressed that "the regional government is very involved in the construction of the new Lorca, which should extend beyond the urban center and reach the various rural areas of the municipality that were also affected by the earthquakes of 2011."
The Community will invest 2 million euros to repair and condition rural roads to improve the mobility and accessibility of citizens of the districts of the municipality of Lorca, the second largest municipality in Spain, with more than 1,600 square kilometers.
To date, 18 works have been carried out on roads and access roads to villages in more than 15 villages, including Torrecilla, Río, Pena, Marchena, Aguaderas, Morata and Ramonete, La Parroquia, Coy, Doña Inés, Cazalla, Zarzilla de Ramos, Zuñiga, Zarzalico, Nogalte and Bejar.
Improvement of the Carrasco Road
Fernández Lladó, accompanied by the Councilor for Development, Ángel Meca, oversaw the work to improve and expand a section of the Carrasco road, which has had an investment of 212,000 euros and a term of execution of nine months.
It has been acted on a stretch of 1.7 kilometers to widen the width of the road, which goes from 5 to 7 meters, in order to allow the transit of two vehicles.
"This improvement is very important because the road has an intense traffic of heavy vehicles due to the high agricultural and livestock activity of the area," said the director general, who detailed that the adaptation has been achieved thanks to the execution of wedges to Both sides of the current road.
The works have included the clearing and to realize strips of widening of about two meters of width on both sides and the later filling with natural zahorra, as well as the displacement of the fences, services and street lighting until the new margins of the way.
It has been concluded with the renovation of the pavement and the replacement and improvement of the horizontal and vertical signaling of the road.
