The councilor of this formation Gloria Martin, recalled that there are Lorca deputations that triple in population to municipalities of the Region.
For this reason it considers it essential that the regional administration establishes maps of investments in works and services according to criteria of socioeconomic development and of interterritorial solidarity
The Councilor of United Left Greens, Gloria Martín, today demanded that the "singularity of Lorca" be contemplated so that the districts of this municipality can opt for the investments of the Plan of Works and Services (POS) for municipalities of less than 50,000 Inhabitants in the Region of Murcia.
Martín recalled that this year the autonomous government has subsidized 65 works in 41 municipalities of the Region under this plan, which next year will increase by 20% and will have 7.8 million euros.
In this respect, he pointed out that Lorca has pedanias that surpass, even tripling in population numbers such as Ojós (497 inhabitants), Ulea (913 inhabitants), Aledo (941 inhabitants), Ricote (1. 332 inhabitants), Albudeite 1,378 inhabitants), Campos del Rio (2,003 inhabitants), or Villanueva del Río Segura (2,560 inhabitants).
Among them, the Lorca delegations of La Hoya (4,023 inhabitants), Campillo (3,813 inhabitants), Tercia (2,958 inhabitants) or Cazalla (2,843 inhabitants).
The mayor of IU-Verdes criticized that the needs of the districts of Lorca are not covered with the investments made by the City of Lorca, which no longer even contains a territorial plan in municipal budgets, or with CARM funds.
In fact, he said that for years public administrations have not been investing "a single penny" in works or new services in many of them so they are "abandoned to their fate".
For this reason, Martín requested a modification in the Plan of Works and Services so that the districts also have access to the autonomic subsidies and stop being "the great marginalized ones" in the policy of investments.
In its absence, the mayor of IU-Verdes requested the creation of a specific plan to cover the needs of districts, not only of our municipality but also of cities such as Murcia or Cartagena.
"We believe that this would be a good way to alleviate some of the existing inequalities," said Martín, who considered it "fundamental" for Ayuntamiento and Comunidad Autónoma to establish maps of investments in works and services according to criteria of socioeconomic development and interterritorial solidarity.
