The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the President of Choruses and Dances Virgen de las Huertas, Mari Huertas García, have presented the XXVIII Festival of Folklore "Virgen de las Huertas", which as usual is celebrated in our city with of the celebrations in honor to the Virgin of the Huertas, Patron of Lorca.
In this sense, the Mayor of Lorca explained that "in this twenty-eighth edition of the festival, which will be held on 7 and 8 September, you can enjoy folk groups from Cuba, Mexico and Cuba, as well as Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas.All of them will spend more than 100 people on the stage set for the occasion. "
The events will begin on Wednesday, September 7 at 11 am with a parade of participating groups from the La Merced Visitor Center to the Guevara Palace via Cava Street, Plaza de España, Alamo Street, Corredera Street, Alporchones and Lope Gisbert.
Immediately after, the reception of the mentioned groups will take place in the Palace of Guevara.
That same day, but already in the afternoon, at 10 pm, the first session of the International Festival "Virgen de las Huertas" will take place in the Plaza Rey Sabio.
Subsequently, the participating groups will show their typical dances with "Folklore at the foot of the street" by the Alameda Virgen de las Huertas to encourage the "Fair Girl".
The next day, at 9 pm, the group of Choirs and Dances Virgen de las Huertas proposes to all Lorca that they go to the Plaza del Rey Sage in order to dance a Jota Lorquina in honor of Santa Maria la Real de las Huertas , thus rendering homage to the Patroness just before entering his temple after the procession celebrated on the occasion of his Onomastic.
After this emotional act the festival will be closed.
Fulgencio Gil congratulated this folk group "for the work of recovery and dissemination of our traditions that have been performing for so many years along with the programming of important multicultural events such as this festival, which allow to spread the Lorca culture so that it reaches very various places around the world. III Photography Contest
For the third year in a row, Coros y Danzas "Virgen de las Huertas" launches a photo contest, which consists of portraying in the best possible way the events that take place during the festival.
In this way, the winning photo becomes the poster image of next year's festival.
In addition, this contest has a first prize of 200 € and a second prize of 100. The bases will be available in the social networks of the group.
