Citizens registered this morning a letter addressed to Mr. Mayor requesting that actions are not put in place that may affect the traffic until the works of Avenida Juan Carlos I and Alameda de Cervantes are completed.
In view of the current situation of Juan Carlos I Avenue and adjacent streets, coinciding with the recently begun works of the Alameda de Cervantes, and with ongoing performances in Los Barrios, Los Angeles and Apolonia and Cristo Rey-La neighborhood Salud, the Government Team reports on "new tenders referring to new urban renewals in the Avenida de Santa Clara, Jerónimo Santa Fe, Avenida Europa and nearby streets."
Councilman Antonio Mecca understands that "all urban remodeling is necessary and positive for citizens who will thus get an improvement in the quality of life (accessibility, better services, sustainability, green spaces ...) but the coincidence in time of all these works, impacting so negatively on the traffic, on the pedestrian, on the commerce, on the tourism, will suppose a monumental chaos in the day to day of the lorquinos ".
A bad or nonexistent planning can lead to Lorca becoming an impassable city for both vehicles and pedestrians.
