The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has welcomed this morning that the efforts undertaken to achieve the completion of the Center of Fairs and Congresses of Lorca have borne fruit and has obtained the support of the European Investment Bank to address the final phase of the works for the equipment of the enclosure.

Fulgencio Gil said that "the construction of the Fair and Congress Center is an emblematic work for the city that was being demanded by different social groups such as Ceclor or Chamber of Commerce, as well as fairs of such magnitude as Feramur, Sepor and Fericab, among others.In addition, equipping Lorca with this service infrastructure makes the city remarking its sub-regional capital character, and strengthens its profile as a city of fairs and congresses, with the important economic and labor revulsion that this entails " .

The Mayor especially wanted to thank the Regional Government, in the figure of its President, Fernando López Miras, the collaboration to make this infrastructure called to be a development tool for Lorca.

"The CARM remains the great ally of Lorca in the process of building this new city of opportunities that is emerging from 2011."

It is worth remembering that the City Council is already investing 11 million euros to make a work that is deeply beneficial for all Lorca.

In fact so far has completed the first phase, which involved an investment of 7 million euros, financed with European funds and part of the amount obtained by the City Hall thanks to the extraordinary national lottery draw held for the benefit of Lorca.

In the last months the works included in the urbanization phase (€ 4 million) are being carried out, divided into two sections: the construction of the exhibition hall and the urbanization of the site, as well as the urbanization of the adjacent streets ( Horno, Santa Quiteria and Painter Salvador Zamora) and the installation of a new collector for the Alameda Virgen de las Huertas).

Once all the phases of works to raise this new equipment have been completed, the exhibit capacity of the Trade Fair Center will increase, going from the 5,010 m2 that was previously to 8,600 m2 (including an area that could be subdivided to hold meetings or install fairs and a specific one for livestock exposition).
