María Ángeles Mazuecos denounces the lack of security in the special traffic areas of schoolchildren, especially in Avenida Juan Carlos I, where sidewalks and pedestrian crossings are plagued by obstacles, and where vertical and horizontal signage is very deficient due to the chaotic planning of works

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has denounced the lack of security that, due to the disastrous planning of the works, severely affects the crossing and crossing areas of school, especially on Avenida Juan Carlos I.

Mazuecos has warned that in the absence of scarce days for the beginning of the next school year, the areas and crosses that serve as passage for schoolchildren are plagued with "ditches and obstacles", making accessibility and mobility of pedestrians in their normal course difficult towards the schools and institutes nearby.

This situation is complicated by the absence of horizontal signage, as pedestrian crossings are "erased", as well as by the non-functioning of traffic lights that regulated traffic and crossing passers-by.

The socialist mayor says that this situation requires the reinforcement of the security measures to guarantee a safe and quiet start of the course.

Looking ahead to the coming months, while overlapping the course of works with the necessary passage of schoolchildren for these points, the mayor urges the Department of Security to allocate troops of Local Police to review and control traffic in some sections of Juan Carlos I, especially in the vicinity of the IES Ramón Arcas Mecca, or in the crossings that lead to the nearest schools.

The mayor recalls that due to the works, and if they do nothing to remedy it, in many of these stretches the students of the institute have to circulate along the road as the sidewalks and the zebra crossing the barriers are blocked.

In the case of the IES Ramón Arcas Mecca, and given the chaos in which it is due to the disastrous planning of the works, Mazuecos also asks the town hall and, in turn, the company awarded the works if they have had in says that, currently, there is no space for the seven or eight bus that transfer to the center to students from other parts of the municipality can park.

In short, Mazuecos demands that the government team of the Popular Party intervene immediately in matters of security to put some sanity in the chaotic situation that have generated by their disastrous planning of the works.

From the PSOE warn that they will have no choice but to hold the Councilors of the Popular Party responsible for any accident that may occur, in case, despite these recommendations, the City of Lorca does not correct this security deficit in sidewalks, crossings and areas of passage of schoolchildren by Juan Carlos I that can put at risk the physical integrity of the passers-by.
