The XXXIX edition of the Sports Games of Guadalentín has been inaugurated this afternoon with the March Walking, popular test that has gathered 1,540 people and 152 families to walk through Lorca.
Once again the inauguration has been a great sporting event for all, anticipating what awaits us during the next 6 weeks and allowing Lorca to celebrate in advance the feast of the Patroness, the Virgin of the Huertas, which commemorates this Friday, September 8.
For the third consecutive year the Plaza de España became the nerve center of the Inaugural Day.
The first athletes could enjoy a lively collective warm-up run by the fitness monitors of the Felipe VI Sports Complex.
And for the first time the pistachio green shirts made their appearance in this edition, as all participants received the commemorative garment of the Games, an almost collectible piece for many participants.
At the same time volunteers and collaborators of the CEPAIM Foundation made known the social work of this group, since as it is being traditional the March is dedicated to a social organization.
On this occasion CEPAIM organized the realization of a graffiti to raise awareness about refugees;
At the same time, 3 partners announced the project "12.000 pedaladas", the same that would later join the March with the bicycles with which they are touring Spain to promote the work of the foundation.
Shortly after the 20.35 hours the test began, consisting of a route of about 6 kms.
suitable for all types of participants.
Calle Cava and La Merced were the first stages until the group of participants entered the districts of San Cristóbal and San Diego, later to pass next to the Complex Felipe VI, Orchard of the Wheel, Aquinas Arderíus Thomas, round of the Bridge Vallecas, alamedas, Alameda Rafael Méndez, Alameda de la Constitución, Presbítero Emilio García and Corredera, until returning again to the Plaza de España after a little more than an hour and twenty of travel at an affordable pace for all.
To end the day, the official inauguration was held in which the Councilor for Sports, Juan Miguel Bayonas, wanted to encourage Lorca and Lorca to join this great sporting event that are the Sports Games of Guadalentín, thus benefiting from the advantages of an active and healthy life.
At the same time, the Edil wanted to thank all the clubs and sports associations that offer their tests in the framework of the Games, because only from the joint work is possible an initiative as complete as this.
On behalf of the CEPAIM Foundation, the Director, Juan Antonio Segura, spoke to thank the organization for offering them the opportunity to promote themselves through this activity.
The farewell came from the traditional sweepstakes of gifts: lots of sausages from the land, family dinners, hams, bonuses for municipal sports facilities and a long etcetera of gifts that a few fortunate took home.
They begin 6 weeks full of sports, popular, amateur and federated, in pavilions or on the streets, alone or with friends or family.
In short, an opportunity to enjoy physical activity, the fun that propitiates and its multiple benefits.
