A total of 61 companies have submitted to tenders for works to improve access to the Castillo de Lorca and for the construction of the high-level evacuation vial, which will improve the conditions of traffic, accessibility and road safety of the city.
The Director General of Highways, José Antonio Fernández Lladó, reported that this week, the bidding deadlines for both works, which will result in an investment close to six million euros, will be completed in the next two years.
"The works of conditioning the access road and ring road to Lorca Castle and its connection to the south of the city will benefit tourism development," said the director, who explained that the platform will be expanded to fit the traffic that supports in the present the vial, which presents deteriorations and deformations that hinder the passage of vehicles.
In addition to ensuring the slopes of the road and the stabilization of a landslide in the north, the current road access to the Castle will be conditioned with new asphalt as well as improve signage and drainage of the road.
The action includes the construction of a connecting road of the Castle with the southern part of the city.
As for the project of the upper districts, Fernández Lladó explained that a perimeter road will be constructed, located to the northwest of the urban helmet, that joins the Ramblilla of San Lázaro with the access road to the Castle of Lorca, next to the church of Santa Maria and through the upper districts.
The new road has been designed to achieve a smooth and adequate layout, as the terrain of the terrain in this area is very uneven, where the dwellings are arranged half a slope above the mountain slope.
