The Municipal Socialist Group considers that since the PP occupied the mayor of Lorca more than ten years ago, has subjected to a total abandonment to the environment of the Pasarela and Paseo Mayor Miguel Navarro Molina, turned into a forgotten and marginal area when it should be one of the most careful as a postcard for presentation to visitors, especially now that the Fair and Festivities of Lorca begins.
In addition, the neighbors are very worried about the increase of the citizen insecurity.
The councilor of the PSOE, David Romera has denounced the "shameful abandonment" in which the environment of Pasarela Manterola and Paseo Alcalde Miguel Navarro Molina is located, something that qualifies as "incomprehensible" since this project was conceived in its day as a "recreational space and contemplation for Lorca and because it is also a letter of presentation of the most modern Lorca to all those who visit us."
Romera recalls that this situation "is not new".
The mayor says that from which PP arrived at the mayor of Lorca have subjected the area to a "blatant total oblivion" that has degenerated into the current situation, which "has become unsustainable"
The mayor adds that the Pasarela Manterola, the ride flown and the recovery of the river Guadalentín river was a great urban action inaugurated in 2003 with the double objective of improving the connection of the San Cristóbal neighborhood with the urban center and the regeneration of the whole zone with new residential and business areas that have been replacing an old industrial landscape demolished.
The gateway, which is the only one in all of Spain with a double curved plan, "is an avant-garde monument of the XXI century, it is the heritage of Lorca and all Lorca and as such should wear in all its splendor, day and night, as also the flown walk and the channel of the Guadalentín, conceived like recreational zones so that they are enjoyed by the population ".
David Romera says that today this walk offers a "bleak panorama" fruit of the neglect and abandonment that has been submitted by the PP for more than ten years because they are not able to maintain what already exists, nor to implement policies deterrents that curb vandalism in the area "
Socialists are again requesting, among other initiatives, to increase police presence and maintain optimum levels of public lighting throughout the night, "away from the current darkness," said Romera.
The mayor adds that the deficiencies found are "multiple": broken glass that either does not recover, or appears scattered anywhere and is not collected;
plants that have dried and neglected gardens when it should be a beautiful grove;
broken marble plaques that are not replaced, broken steps on the access stairs, or graffiti and graffiti that are not cleaned (including the centenary Puente del Barrio that appears full of them).
In addition, many lamps are broken, cast or taken off;
also the existence of broken bins;
corrosion-resistant metal elements.
The footbridge lacks an anti-slip pavement, not to mention the "bad state" of the river channel for the practice of sports and recreation.
For all this, from the Socialist Municipal Group asks the PP Government team that after ten years of abandonment, all these deficiencies are rectified at once to make this place an attractive recreational and contemplative space for Lorca and visitors, showing his best image, day and night;
that police surveillance be increased in order to put an end to the citizen insecurity that is so worrying to the neighbors and to implement the necessary measures to discourage vandalism;
to recover the river bed as a green area and for sports use;
and that all these infrastructures receive the maintenance and conservation they need to be displayed in all its splendor, typical of a modern and tourist city.
