The Councilors of United Left-Greens Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín pledged to defend their rights again in the regular Plenum of September, in which they will require the Mayor to reach an agreement with CARM to file the files in which it can be demonstrated that the victims used the aid to repair their homes
Nearly a hundred people affected by the return of CARM support for the 2011 earthquakes came yesterday to the call of IU-Greens, a training that has been demanding for months the archiving of the files of those victims who can demonstrate, through technical inspections, which used public subsidies to rehabilitate their homes.
That was precisely the agreement reached, unanimously, in the Municipal Plenary of last July.
However, the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil (PP), "has not moved a finger" to demand the autonomic president of his party, Fernando López Miras, the materialization of said agreement.
Meanwhile, the CARM, through different departments, continues to claim massive reimbursement of aid granted after the earthquakes that struck Lorca more than six years ago.
For the councilors of IU-Verdes Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, in most cases the CARM has exhausted the legally established term -4 years- to demand the repayment of the aid, reason why "the neglect of the Administration to the time to fulfill its obligations has played in favor of the people affected. "
In that sense, Sosa and Martín pointed out that the CARM's delay in claiming reinstatement is related to the fact that, unlike in 2015 and 2016, "this is not an election year".
Those concerned regretted CARM's "obsession" with "making cash" with the victims, when some of them still owe them up to 18 months of rent subsidies.
Others said they were "aid with side effects" as they have become a loan to be repaid with interest on arrears.
"The vast majority of those affected spent that money on repairing our homes to be able to return to them and we still had to put our savings," they explained.
A demonstrable fact through the technical inspections that were carried out to their homes that claims IU-Greens as a solution to the anguish generated by the mass mailing of letters that would affect at least 800 families in Lorca.
"They claim to the affected invoices of more than five years, when the companies do not even have legal obligation to conserve them after that time," explained Sosa and Martin.
For all this, the victims will constitute a platform and will elect representatives who next week will ask to meet with the mayor and the regional president.
They will also organize protest events that will begin with assistance to the full municipal in September, to which IU-Greens will once again transfer its problematic.
From the platform they will delve into the information work for those affected since many of them are unaware even that they have the right to present allegations at the request of CARM.
In that sense, the office of the Municipal Group of IU-Greens will also remain open to those affected who need advice.
Martín and Sosa explained that, at the request of those affected, their training will help the Platform to "go for a walk" although their desire is to function "autonomously and independently" because they consider it necessary that those affected be the ones who lead the demands and protest against the public authorities.
