The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Adela Martínez-Cachá, visited this morning the works of adaptation of the sports areas of the Institutes Ibáńez Martín and Ros Giner de Lorca.
They began in July and are already executed in 25 percent of the total, that is, they are progressing at a good pace and as planned.
The counselor asked teachers and students "patience for possible inconvenience that can cause the works" and thanked the entire educational community "his good disposition."
Martinez-Cachá said that after its reconstruction, the Ros Giner will be even more a center of reference in the region next to Ibáńez Martín and that will benefit more than 2,000 students of these centers.
At present, work has already been carried out on demolition, clearing, removal of sports equipment, lighting posts, supply, compaction and land leveling mainly, starting work on sanitation and rainwater networks, the sports courts.
The actions, which have a maximum term of execution of nine months, "are being developed in accordance with the established work plan," explained the counselor.
The improvements consist in the construction of modern facilities with four sports courts and in the improvement of the patios of both centers, works that have a budget of 845,000 euros.
This investment adds to the 3.8 million euros of the construction of the new institute Ros Giner and 900,000 euros of the new sports pavilion that was finished last year.
Martinez-Cachá also said that "the Ros Giner will receive in the coming weeks the rest of the equipment of the auditorium such as the 140 chairs. In addition, the installation of digital whiteboards and interactive monitors with which the center will be equipped will be in the month of November, because it is still in the bidding phase. "
More infrastructures
Martinez-Cachá said that "during this course we will invest nearly 20 million euros in improving the infrastructure of the centers to promote a higher educational quality, this is one of the great challenges of our department."
During the academic year 2017-2018 "large projects will be executed in the Region of Murcia and, of course, also in Lorca. The extension of CEIP Juan Navarro Garcia de la Hoya is planned and the works of the new Children's school Pasico Campillo ".
Fulgencio Gil stressed that "Lorca consolidates itself as a reference municipality for educational infrastructures thanks to a complete map of facilities that goes further.
