The municipal spokesman of IU-V in the City of Lorca, Pedro Sosa, has been accompanied this morning by councilors of his political formation in Murcia capital and Alcantarilla, municipalities in which, along with Lorca, the railway crosses the center the cities and, therefore, are exposed to the passage of the AVE, with its walls and insulation, can divide each of these three cities into pieces.
Nacho Tornel, IU councilman and Spokesman of the Municipal Group "Cambiemos Murcia" in the capital of the Region, and Josetxu Durán, IU coordinator in Alcantarilla and Spokesman of his Municipal Group in the city council of that city, have intervened together to do Sosa explicit the coordination of this political formation in the Region in terms of railway infrastructures and its firm position against any attempt by the PP governments to impose a surface arrival to any of these three cities.
Sosa has begun affirming that although the Guadalentín corridor, until arriving at Murcia, will be affected by that scar that is made to the territory with an infrastructure like this one, and although there are specific situations that to approach of that route in localities like Totana, Alhama or Librilla, the truth is that the most difficult problem to tackle is the one that generates the passage of the AVE by the center of the cities, that is limited, to this day, to the three municipalities mentioned.
Nevertheless he wanted to make clear, before entering into AVE matter, the whole set of claims related to the railroad from which his political formation has always been a banner.
For us, says Sosa, the railway connection with Andalusia will continue to be priorities, the connection with Madrid via high-speed trains through the well-known Camarillas variant and the proximity of the suburbs as a means of transport that runs through the valley of the Guadalentín and that is used daily by thousands of people.
At these levels, the IU-V spokesman said that the conventional railroad in the region is in a difficult situation after years of abandonment by the PP governments, with the oldest trains in the country, without electrification and with a model reminiscent of the trains of the far west.
The AVE model is not our model, has affirmed, nor have we asked for it, nor does it demand the society of Murcia.
The AVE diverted to the city of Alicante, full of corruption in its hiring and generator of so many problems in the cities, saves neither time on the way to the capital of Spain nor money of the citizens.
Sosa has expressed that with the meeting in Lorca of councilors of IU-V of the Region we want to highlight coordination and solidarity back and forth.
From our political formation in Lorca, and also from the town of Lorca, to the citizens of the neighborhoods of the south of the city of Murcia, they are developing a just, exemplary, peaceful and democratic struggle, which of course is an example for us , so that his city is not left in two by the construction of a wall of several kilometers.
And also back, because the representatives of Murcia and Alcantarilla come this morning to make pineapple with us, with the city of Lorca.
If the AVE does not get buried in the city of Murcia, after so many promises and so many agreements, we do not know why we have to believe that he arrived under Lorca.
Sosa has thus left to the step of the last statements of the Mayor of Lorca.
Of course it is preferable to have a Mayor who says that "The AVE will get buried to Lorca, or it will not arrive", than to have another that is put in profile in this matter.
The problem, he argues, is the precedents of the PP in this case.
That same same have said the popular mayors in Murcia, several advisers of the regional government of the PP, and also several Ministers of the PP in their visits to our region.
But as one thing is to preach and another to give wheat, we are seeing that the wheat that is coming to the city of Murcia comes without burial and dressed as "provisional".
In Spain, as we know, everything provisional has always ended up being definitive.
Finally, the Spokesman of IU-V has announced the submission of a motion to the Plenary of the City of Lorca with two contents.
The first is to express our solidarity with the people of Murcia and their struggle in the neighborhoods and roads of that city.
The second is the promotion of a lorquino pact for the burial and quality of rail communications.
We want to put at a table all political, social, economic, neighborhood, environmentalists and sign an agreement that will be forwarded to the Government of Spain and we want to be a unanimous expression of all the people of Lorca that we will not accept under any circumstances a infrastructure that generates a wall in the city of Lorca, which separates us at the height of the Iron Bridge, the malls, Sutullena, the Island, and other populated areas of the city and neighborhoods.
The AVE must enter underground and only surface when it does not hurt anymore.
For his part, Alcantarilla councilor, Josetxu Durán, explained the complexity of his city in railway matters and its solidarity with the neighbors of Murcia who bravely face a problem that will soon reach other places.
The train has been a historic problem for Alcantarilla, he says, since the line of Madrid crosses the center of the city dividing it in two and the surroundings towards Lorca break it by its south part.
In this sense, he maintains that the most reasonable option that IU has always defended is to raffle the urban center of the town with the well-known variant of Reguerón in the direction of Sangonera la Seca.
Durán has expressed the solidarity of his municipality with the neighbors of the south of Murcia, and has emphasized that the struggle of these is peaceful and exemplary despite the links that some intend to establish with violence.
Nacho Tornel, the Spokesman of Cambiemos Murcia, explained the current situation of the city of Murcia, arguing that the PP has been historically rejecting all the alternatives that would have avoided the problem we now have on the table, from the north variant that does not was made possible by the speculative interests that materialized there and ended up prevailing over the generals, to the burial by the center that has begun to fail for years despite the many promises that consist black on white in a multitude of statements by all politicians of the PP who, at all levels, have had some responsibility on this matter.
Tornel affirms that the arrival of the AVE, as it is, is not only a problem of a good part of the neighborhoods of the south of Murcia, that will be incomunicados of the center of the city, but also it is also a problem of territorial design of the Region of Murcia .
After manifesting the unequivocal support of his political organization to the residents of the south of Murcia with whom we are on the road every day, he has harshly criticized the provisional record with which we now present the surface arrival, stating that no one can believe that in two years are going to dismantle temporary works that cost a kidney to give way to the burial works.
If it were so, which is not going to be, it would also be an unacceptable waste.
Finally he said that the social mobilization against the wall is increasing, and this will continue to happen.
