The Councilor for Tourism of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, has informed that the City of the Sun will celebrate World Tourism Day on 27 September with various activities.
Among them is the exhibition "Development Soste ... qué?", ​​Located in the Visitor Center, Convent of the Merced, from September 25 to October 1, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Lorca can enjoy this activity for free.
This exhibition is composed of a sample of 8 panels that gives us a simple and direct way to Sustainable Development to know how to contribute actively to the balance in the Environment.
This activity is aimed at the general public and students from primary school.
This exhibition has been transferred to "Lorca, Workshop of Time" by CENEAM, Autonomous Organism of National Parks belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment.
On 27 September, the World Tourism Day, which was established in 1980 by the World Tourism Organization, is celebrated annually.
The General Assembly of the United Nations declared 2017 the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development, which aims to make all tourists aware of the importance of making tourism a more sustainable sector.
On this occasion, the day presents the opportunity to celebrate the contribution of tourism to the three pillars of sustainability: economic, social and environmental.
In this regard, Francisco Montiel stressed that Lorca joins this initiative to raise awareness with the environment with the goal that sustainable tourism is a priority for all.
The Edil de Turismo has encouraged that "we join a global celebration to help make sustainable tourism a reality and users travel and enjoy while respecting the space. It should be remembered that if you are not friends with Lorca Workshop Time and you want to enjoy all the advantages that it offers, you can apply for your card in the Visitor Center of Lorca, in the Office of Tourism of Plaza de España or in castle, directly the day of the visit ".
The Visitor Center of Lorca is one of three Tourist Information points available to the city where you can obtain all the local and regional information for the tourist visit, as well as the purchase of tickets and souvenirs of Lorca.
The visit to the center is free and offers the possibility of a virtual tour of the culture and identity of Lorca, an essential visit so you can get an idea of ​​the municipality and the city of Lorca and all the tourist attractions that it possesses.
In addition, you will be able to know our particular Holy Week, declared of International Tourist Interest through the new audiovisual "Lorca in Holy Week".
