The Councilor of the United Left-Greens, Gloria Martín, has denounced the slowness in the execution of the repair works of the pond in the hamlet of Doña Inés, which should be concluded before the rainy season begins.
According to the mayor explained, the work began almost three months ago, and in all this time, only 10 linear meters of decorative stone have been placed.
The procrastination is due to the fact that the City Council has sent a squad composed only by two masons and a laborer, who hardly spend three hours a day in the conditioning of the pond.
"It costs very little work to approach Doña Inés and see what is failing," said Martín, after meeting with a group of neighbors with whom he inspected the progress of the work.
For the councilor of IU-Greens this is a symptom that the PP Government team is not taking seriously the recovery of this space and therefore demanded a "reinforcement" in the number of operators, so that work is streamlined and be given more efficiency.
In that sense, he explained that in July the artificial lagoon was completely emptied but the problems of leaks were not solved, so the process will have to be repeated since it has been refilled with water after the rains of the first of September.
Gloria Martín also called for the action to be "integral" through clearing and clearing work in the Cañada and Rollo in order to facilitate the outflow of the spring that feeds the pond.
In this regard, and as demanded by the neighbors, the mayor of IU-Verdes again requested the creation of a small walk in the area by planting trees and the conditioning of the road, just 100 meters.
In addition, he insisted on the need to recover the centenarian laundry located next to the spring and that is buried today.
"This is a little expensive and that would result in the welfare of the neighbors and the attractiveness of the hamlet, afflicted by a serious problem of depopulation," said the mayor.
Martín lamented the "null" strategic vision of the PP regarding the rural areas of the municipality.
"Lorca has beautiful and picturesque deputations whose value in their natural and heritage assets could attract sustainable tourism that reactivates the local economy and restore life to peoples who threaten to die at the turn of a decade," he warned.
