The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, along with the President of the Federation San Clemente Patron of Lorca, Luis Antonio Torres del Alcázar, visited this morning the size of the patron saint of the city that is preserved in the Collegiate Church of San Patricio, an act that constitutes the first visit like First Edil Lorca of Fulgencio Gil to the patron.
It is an act of symbolic reverence in which the Mayor has been entrusted to the protection and guidance of the Patron Saint so that the common work of our society allows Lorca to continue to advance in the path of progress, growth and job creation.
From the Federation of San Clemente have highlighted the interest, involvement and collaboration that Fulgencio Gil has demonstrated in the promotion and dissemination of the festivities of Lorca in the various positions he has played during his political career, as well as on a personal level.
For this reason, they have the honor of selecting him as a crier of the festival this year.

It should be noted that the festival of San Clemente, Patron of Lorca, is a celebration with more than five centuries of history that has been revitalized with special success in recent years through the organization of multiple cultural activities thanks to the San Clemente Federation.
This festivity takes place during the month of November, with multiple events in which a medieval Lorca is covered with history and legend, including activities such as the traditional parade of Muslims, Jews and Christians, a medieval market, as well as processions and masses in honor to the patron.
These festivals have been declared of Regional Tourist Interest since 1996.
It was in the year 1945 was agreed on November 23 as a festival of the Patron of Lorca and would take this in procession to the collegiate church of San Patricio.
The present sculptural image of the San Clemente pattern was made by the Granadino sculptor Eduardo Espinosa Cuadros in 1948. Fruit of this commitment, during the last years the Municipal Administration has contributed financing, among other projects, the crown that shines the personage of Alfonso X in the Stopped Parade of the History of Lorca.
We are talking about the Cameo of the Cameos, exact replica of the original guarded in the Holy Cathedral Church Primada of Toledo, realized in silver gilded, agate and crystal by the metalister of the House of Real, the lorquino Andrés Barnés.
The piece shows four Neapolitan glyptic cameos with certificates of authenticity.
The Municipal Consistory has also contributed for the aggrandizement of this festival the perimeter crest of the throne of the patron.
It is an ornamental element made in bronze and bathed in sterling silver with which the throne is completed.
It should be noted that the City Council, through the various municipal workshops of the Department of Employment, was responsible for the making of both the throne and the skirts embroidered by hand.
