The councilor of IU-V in the City of Lorca, Adoración Peñas, will defend tomorrow Friday in the municipal plenary a proposal for Lorca to enter into a network of municipalities that, due to their landscape and cultural peculiarities, are offered as cinematographic scenarios.

Peñas supports his initiative in a work published in the last publication of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces - "Local Charter" - which includes an interesting article entitled "Municipalities of Cinema", in which the use of multitude of places of the Spanish territory like cinematographic scenes from the golden years of the film industry to our days.

The article states that the shooting of films and television series has a very positive economic impact in the municipalities where it is carried out: local extras, actors, construction of sets, technicians, hotels, restaurants, carpentries, hardware stores, catering, etc., in addition to the economic return that is experienced as a result of what has come to be called "cinema tourism".

Many CCAA and city councils, says Adoración Peñas, have been integrated into the so-called "Red Spain Film Commission".

It is a non-profit association that provides producers with the management of shooting of all types of audiovisual works in our territories.

This network also advises on financing, locations, administrative management and services of all kinds.

In short, it is an organism for the attraction of producers to the Spanish territory so that they use their locations as a shooting place, to generate both economic and tourist benefits.

Lorca, says the councilor of IU-V, because of its enormous extension and the variety of natural, historical and cultural landscapes, could explore the possibility of offering to this type of cultural initiatives, and therefore, in that Municipal Plenary, will propose that the Department of Culture commissioned its technical services to study the feasibility and opportunity to include Lorca in the network mentioned, making the affection a report on the suitability of Lorca to be offered as a "film municipality."
