The councilors of this formation, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, lamented that five years have passed since the flood of San Wenceslao - which cost the lives of five neighbors and caused material losses worth more than one hundred million euros - without the administrations have provided solutions to mitigate the risks of possible torrential rains.
They also denounced that the City Council is granting licenses for the construction of farms in the endoreic zone of the ravine of Nogalte, which they described as "terrible irresponsibility".
The councilors of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Pedro Sosa and Gloria Martín, have called for "urgent solutions" to the situation of vulnerability before avenues of the orchard of Lorca, when it is fulfilled a lustrum of the flood of San Wenceslao that cost the life to five neighbors and caused material losses amounting to more than 100 million euros.
IU-Verdes adds to the demands of Pailorca, the platform affected by the floods of 2012, which has recently denounced that, if torrential rains similar to those of that year occurred, "exactly the same thing happened" because "little has been done done since. "
The councilors of IU-Greens wondered what the Government of the Autonomous Community is waiting for to execute the project of enlargement of the spans under the platform of the highway of Eagles, to increase the drainage capacity.
They also demanded that the Hydrological Confederation of Segura (CHS) build lamination dams on the Béjar and Nogalte rambles, which minimize the impact of possible water avenues and improve the safety conditions of Lorca's orchard in future floods.
The CHS has also not approached the channeling of the boulevard of Biznaga, one of which overflowed in 2012.
Sosa and Martín regretted that five years after the tragedy, the public authorities were not able to put in place solutions to mitigate the risks before possible torrential rains.
The mayors of IU-Verdes also recalled that the devastating effects of the flood of 2012 not only had to do with the flow that was generated, but also with constructions that altered the natural passage of water.
In that sense, they accused the City Council of granting, at the moment, licenses for the construction of farms in the endorreic zone of the ravine of Nogalte, what they described as "terrible irresponsibility".
