In the popular programming of the Sports Games of Guadalentín always shines with its own light the Popular Race that for some years is solidarity and is celebrated within the initiative Run for Parkinson to raise awareness about such disease.
This year was not to be an exception and the Popular Race had a participation of 300 people who decided to enjoy the running during this Sunday morning.
The Alameda de la Virgen de las Huertas returned to become the point of departure and arrival of the different routes, as they were held 4 races so that athletes of all ages can take part in the test.
The programming began with the main race of 6 kms.
which after the exit crossed Santa Clara Avenue, Barrio del Puente Mayor Street, Avenue of the Armed Forces, Avenida Europa and Puente Nuevo to return crossing Santa Clara again, crossing the bridge of Vallecas and offering a sprint straight to the finish line.
In the general imposed Mario Molina and Alvaro Martinez.
Then the races were held for the youngest participants, all on a circuit enabled in the street Tomás de Aquino Arderíus.
The first was for the backpacks, boys and girls under 5 years, which, of course, also have room in the Games and had a great time running with their parents.
All the participants received a commemorative medal after completing the 200 meters of route.
The next runners to participate were the Benjamins, who competed in 1,200 meters.
Then the fry, at a distance of 1,600 meters.
Finally, it was the turn of the runners and children's runners who demonstrated their future in the world of athletics covering 2,000 meters.
The closure to the day was the awarding of medals to the winners, as well as the drawing of gifts, which included the Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, and representatives of the Lorquina Association of Parkinson's Disease and Bank Mare Nostrum.
It was a great morning sport and, above all, very supportive, as the runners collaborated economically with the cause of Parkinson while they were aware of this disease and its consequences, demonstrating once again that sport is supportive.
