It is a Japanese technique in which a narrator uses sheets with silhouettes and texts to tell stories.
The Department of Politics of the Mayor will convene a contest with a battery of awards to encourage citizen participation.
The Councilor for Policy of the Mayor in the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, has reported that the Municipal Council, through this area of management, will undertake a new project framed in the Program to Promote Reading for the Elderly, which is being carried out by the Council of Social Policy of the Mayor in collaboration with the Municipal Library "Pilar Barnés" and the Department of New Technologies, and today has been distinguished in the framework of the Gala Awards Mayor of the Region of Murcia 2017, which has collected the Mayor, Fulgencio Gil.
Ms. Silvente explained that this is a "kamishibai" contest aimed at children and sets out with the aim of encouraging reading.
As a pilot experience this project will be carried out with children's groups that are linked to the programs of the Social Services area.
This contest will have a battery of prizes for those who want to collaborate with traditional stories or own stories in order to stimulate participation.
These stories will be represented by the members of the collective of Storytelling Grandparents, whose work we want to emphasize by their unique contribution and disinterested effort.
The Edil de Política del Mayor has explained that the Kamishibai, in Japanese, means "paper theater", is a way of telling stories of broad roots and popular settlement in Japan.
We are talking about a representation that is usually directed to groups of young children, while being used as a didactic resource of recognized value.
It is formed by a set of sheets that has a drawing on one side and text on the other.
Its content, usually in narrative form, may refer to a story or some content of learning.
As the text is on the back of the plates the kamishibai always needs a presenter or interpreter who reads the text while the spectators contemplate the drawings.
The reading of the kamishibai is done by placing the sheets in order on a support, three-door teatrillo that is called "butai", facing the auditorium, and sliding the sheets one after another while reading the text.
Fátima Mínguez noted that the reading promotion program includes various projects and activities each year, including the dissemination of the services of the municipal library network, support for the training and development of reading clubs in institutions reading material adapted to the acquisition and loan of adapted reading material such as: XL books, easy reading books, audiobooks ...
The Councilor for the Politics of the Mayor has explained that this work also includes the promotion of different reading clubs, reading books, reading XL books, listening groups, etc., as well as parallel activities (film screenings on read material) institutions for the elderly such as residences and day centers among others.
It should be noted that the reading promotion program also includes the annual dissemination of an informative catalog on the material acquired for seniors and reading clubs, as well as the development of a bibliographic selection dedicated to the leisure, health and well-being of our which are published on the website of the Council of Social Policy of the Mayor and the municipal libraries and informing the various groups.
In fact a space has been created in the library "Pilar Barnés" where the selection of existing funds recommended for seniors is exposed.
Fátima Mínguez has stated that the creation of a story bank has facilitated access to reading for all elderly people who for any reason (cultural level, mobility or vision problems, hospitalization, etc.) could not make use of the books of the municipal libraries.
It is a project of a community and cultural nature where Lorca society has been involved in collaborating and participating in the provision of their voice for the narration of short stories that in turn have been ceded by authors and publishers with a setting musical according to the story.
These recordings are being published through the portals of the City of Lorca, the Municipal Network of Libraries and the Council of Social Policy of the Mayor, being our link: http://www.lorcamayor.lorca.es/banco-relatos .asp
