The agreement, which has an amount of 11,300 euros, will be allocated to carry out the "Sociocultural Week of the Mayor", the project "The Storytelling Grandparents" and, finally, the "Meeting between Associations of Elderly Lorca towards an Aging Active"
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the delegate of the "la Caixa" Obra Social in the city, María José Martínez, have signed a collaboration agreement between both institutions to continue carrying out in our town activities that take our elders towards a active aging.
Fulgencio Gil said that "the agreement signed today with the Foundation la Caixa for an amount of 11,300 euros will designate to continue to carry out in the whole municipality the policies of the mayor that we develop from the City of Lorca. to carry out the "Sociocultural Week of the Mayor", the project "The storytelling grandparents" and, finally, the "Meeting between associations of older people of Lorca towards an active aging."
The Mayor of Lorca has stressed that "from the Department of Mayor we are developing a great task and a great work to promote active aging among the elderly in our town, a main objective for our elders feel draped, useful and integrated into a society that owes them a great deal and that counts on them ".
Specifically, through the Mayor's Sociocultural Week we intend to combine leisure activities and awareness campaigns to motivate older people in their free time to be active.
In addition, with the realization of the same we find a vehicle to promote communication, friendship, coexistence and interpersonal relationships thanks to the different activities that are carried out among which stand out exhibitions, dissemination of active aging initiatives, storytelling, masterclass gymnastics and cognitive stimulation and film projections.
Another activity that is having great success among the elders of our municipality, and which has recently been awarded by the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia at the Mayor Awards, is the project "Los Abuelos Cuentacuentos" and the theater workshop.
The program seeks to revalue the figure of our elders, the grandparents and the influence they exert on children, so that they are seen as individuals capable of interacting and communicating with other generations through the exercise of reading and narration.
It should be noted that this project is divided into two transversal programs: "Tuesdays of stories" and "The smile of grandparents storytellers".
The last initiative that is included in this project is the "Meeting between Associations of Seniors of Lorca towards an Active Aging".
The aim is to turn these meetings into a place and tool where to learn, share and know experiences and projects of active aging that can motivate the elderly groups of the municipality to participate actively through enriching experiences that help them grow as a community and guide new actions to boost their associations.
It should be remembered that the municipality of Lorca has a total of 40 associations of pensioners.
