The Lorca socialists present a motion for Lorca to advance in the urgent fight against gender violence.
Among other measures, demand more funding for the Lorca CAVI and improved coordination between administrations, with the incorporation of Local Police to the Integral System of cases of gender violence, or 'Viogen'
The councilor of the PSOE, Andrea Periago has presented the motion with which they want Lorca to continue making progress, among all, in the fight against gender violence.
Ensuring a life free of violence for women, their children and daughters is a priority objective for the Socialist Group.
Periago has indicated that so far this year 42 women have been killed, seven more than last year.
In addition, in only eight of the cases did the victims foresee a preliminary report and only four of them had measures of protection.
The mayor recalled that among the victims is a neighbor of Lorca killed in Totana, and another Lorca seriously injured by his ex-wife.
For all this, Andrea Periago has stressed the need to "not lower their arms" to continue making progress in ensuring a life free of violence for women and their children.
With its motion, the PSOE asks in the first place that the City of Lorca asks the Government of the Nation to "urgently" activate and transfer the budget lines agreed for the implementation of the agreements of the State Pact against Gender Violence, to the set of administrations involved, among them, to the consistory Lorca.
Lorca socialists also urge that the regional pact that is also on the table to strengthen the mechanisms and budget necessary to combat this scourge at the closest level.
Specifically, they demand that the economic endowment be extended to the Center for Assistance to Victims of Gender Violence (CAVI) in Lorca.
A staff to which the Socialists "acknowledge and thank their work" and add that "there is no greater recognition than endowing them with sufficient means", because "they do what they can with the means they have" to take care of women and children victims of gender violence.
To reinforce the coordinated attention between administrations, the Socialists will request through their motion to join the Local Police Corps of the City of Lorca to the "Integral System of cases of gender violence" Viogen, as is already the case in other municipalities.
Finally, the Municipal Socialist Group will once again claim that Lorca has an exclusive court of gender violence.
This is an initiative that Lorca socialists have already brought to plenary last year, adhering to this proposal promoted by judges and lawyers Lorca.
From the PSOE they insist that the Court n ° 4 of Lorca becomes an exclusive court of matters of gender violence, with regional character, like the one that already has Murcia or Cartagena.
Although they have not been able to specify the data of the region, they affirm that, in the second quarter, in the country they have increased the complaints by gender violence 18%, reason why, they affirm, "it is necessary to continue working to reinforce the operation of the courts specialized for the attention of cases of gender violence ".
