The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, suggests encouraging the installation of recharging points, applying a tax exemption for their owners and renewing the municipal fleet with hybrid or electric cars
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes, Gloria Martín, has urged the City Council to set "objectives of reducing polluting emissions" and to be responsible for the "promotion of clean and sustainable transport".
To this end, Martín has requested the implementation of measures aimed at encouraging the use of hybrid and electric vehicles, such as, for example, encouraging the installation of recharging points at gas stations, shopping centers and public car parks, or applying an exemption from the road tax for their vehicles. owners
Martín recalled that there is no single electric vehicle registered in the municipality, which he blamed on a "poor bet" of the local government team of the PP.
In this regard, he explained that the city of Murcia has 60 charging points for electric vehicles, compared to the only existing one in a well-known shopping center in Lorca.
The City Council of the regional capital has also announced direct aid, between 2,500 and 4,500 euros, for the acquisition of this type of utility.
The mayor of IU-Green has also requested that the City of Lorca gradually renew the fleet of municipal vehicles with electric or hybrid cars with the aim of promoting, by example, a cleaner mobility and significantly reduce the air and noise pollution caused by Urban traffic.
The proposal of IU meets the recommendations of the Integral Strategy for the Promotion of Electric Vehicles in Spain, approved by the Ministry of Industry, which urges the cities of more than 50,000 inhabitants to launch actions to promote electric vehicles .
Martin recalled that Lorca is one of the municipalities most affected by high air pollution, which constantly exceeds the values admitted, for example, in tropospheric ozone.
