Adoration Peñas, councilor of the municipal group of IU-Greens has affirmed that, according to data offered by FANUMUR (Association of Large Families of the Region of Murcia), Lorca would be one of the municipalities of Murcia in which tax ordinances offer less benefits for large families.
According to a comparison obtained from the data published in the different municipal websites, the mayor assures that Lorca suspends what the municipality offers to families with three or more children.
Peñas has affirmed that these families, as well as single-parent families, require more specific attention from the administration, in this case the local one, since they present more economic, organizational, etc. difficulties, to cover the basic needs of the daily life.
However, from IU-Greens point out that Lorca is not up to standard and cite some examples in which the municipality is not up to par.
In the case of sports activities, while the town of Murcia offers a 50% discount to large families of general category and 90% for special category, in Lorca there are only discounts of 20 and 30% respectively .
Similarly, in the case of the Municipal Music School, the Lorca families are subject to the valuation and, if appropriate, approval by the Local Government Board, while in Caravaca they enjoy a 50% discount and in Molina de Segura of a 15 or a 30 if they are of special category.
The mayor says that the same applies to public transport, since while Murcia offers a discount of 50% of the bus ticket and Cartagena of 25%, in our municipality there is no such discount.
Peñas has cited other municipal services in which Lorca does not offer any type of bonus to large families, although other municipalities of smaller size and scope do.
Such is the case of Yecla, which subsidizes 40% in cultural activities;
Puerto Lumbreras, which halves the costs of Single Window, Sewer and Molina that offer discounts of 15% to families of general category and 30% to those special in terms of fees of examination or Cieza, which offers reduced entrance fees to museums, or discounts of 90% on the garbage and solid waste collection rate if the per capita income of the family unit does not exceed 75% of the SMI.
In this sense, Peñas has announced that its municipal group will conduct a detailed study of tax ordinances to make improvement proposals that affect vulnerable groups, such as large families and single parents, in the different municipal services for the fiscal year. 2018
