The councilor of IU-Greens, Gloria Martin, has denounced that the announcement of the contract for urban renewal of the Barrio de San Fernando in Lorca, published today in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia, means that the residents of this area, who have been out of their homes since 2011 due to earthquakes, will not be able to return to their homes, at least, within a year and a half.
Martín explained that the announcement of the tender indicates an execution period of 12 months plus the procedures in which works will be carried out in networks of water, electricity and telecommunications, with renewal of roads, demolition of sidewalks and excavation and recovery of all the road, included.
In this regard, the mayor of IU-Greens has asked where is the announcement of the mayor of Lorca by which the residents of San Fernando would return to their homes last summer.
He also recalled that, while City Hall and Autonomous Community "perpetuate" the reconstruction works, twelve families continue to live in prefabricated houses built by the Red Cross and the rest, up to 232, for rent.
Gloria Martín reproached the PP that in October of last year publicized a visit to the pilot floor of this performance that he described as "paripé", for "exclusive lucimiento" of the undersecretary of Promotion of the Government of the Nation, Mario Garcés, of the previous mayor, Francisco Jodar, and the general secretary of the Ministry of Development, Yolanda Muñoz.
These then assured that the reconstruction was "almost a reality" and that the works of urban regeneration would be tendered "in a few weeks", when the truth is that they have taken a year.
"The blocks of houses are still under construction because there are hardly any workers working," denounced Martín, who demanded to know if, when they are finally finished, the City Council "intends to grant the occupancy certificates without the neighbors having electricity and water."
Therefore, Martin has censored the management of City Council and CARM regarding the reconstruction of the neighborhood that has been "slow, clumsy, and riddled with unfulfilled promises," he said.
The mayor of IU-Greens demanded "political responsibilities" before what she considered an "absolute nonsense".
