The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the Secretary of State for Finance of the Ministry of Public Administration of the Government of Spain, José Enrique Fernández de Moya, have signed this morning a collaboration agreement by which Lorca will receive 3 million euros that will be used in the execution of a wide battery of improvements that will benefit practically all of the districts of our municipal district.
The rubric, which was made in the Palace of Huerto Ruano, has also had the presence of the Minister of Finance and Public Administration of CARM, Andrés Carrillo, and the Government Delegate in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Sánchez- Solís
The Mayor explained that, as I anticipated a few months ago, this Municipal Executive has decided to multiply the public investment that we have been making in our districts.
I said that this commitment is firm and decisive, and here we have the first example with the signing of an agreement for a total amount of 3 million euros that the Government of Spain puts on the table for us to improve our districts.
While it is true that within this economic amount we have to take advantage to materialize a very specific project in the urban area, yes I can anticipate that 95% of the total amount of this agreement will be developed in districts.
Fulgencio Gil said that in this way we embark on a stage in which we will invest everything in our power to stimulate the growth and development of our districts.
Although it is true that we always execute a large part of our budget to attend the districts, it is also true that the recovery of the town center of our municipality has been possible thanks to the contribution made by the districts, a task in which we have had the understanding of the Lorca resident in them.
We are talking about a generosity to which we are going to give an answer.
In recent years we have achieved very high investments to improve our road and highway network, especially with the support of the Ministry of Development of CARM, which we will now continue to implement with these 3 million euros.
The Mayor has indicated that the ravages of the earthquake were also noticed in numerous infrastructures of our districts, which we will be able to repair and improve thanks to the financing contemplated by this agreement.
We refer to a subsidy that aims to finance the repair works or restitution of infrastructures, equipment and facilities and local ownership, which comes hand in hand with the General State Administration, which has collaborated with this City Council in previous years to face this type of actions, a line of promotion in which we want to deepen to achieve the greatest benefit possible for all Lorca.
The purpose of the agreement signed this morning is to make effective a nominal grant of 3,000,000 euros in favor of the City of Lorca, provided for in the Law of General State Budgets for 2017, charged to the credits of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, Ministry of Finance, General Secretariat of Autonomous and Local Financing, to finance works and services to repair infrastructures, equipment and services owned by the City of Lorca (Murcia), as a result of the damage caused by seismic movements on 11 May 2011, in accordance with Royal Decree-Law 6/2011 of May 13.
The First Edil has detailed that these investments for improvement will be defined soon, since the needs are broad and we will try to respond to the main concerns that are showing us the neighbors themselves during the different meetings that we have keeping with neighborhood groups in districts.
As more significant examples of projects that are going to be executed, we can highlight today the remodeling of the Camino del Piña (€ 60,000), located in the hamlet of Cazalla, as well as the improvement of the Camino de Miras (€ 25,000), in Marchena, the renewal of the Camino del Molino de la Sierra, in Tercia (€ 240,000), the improvement of the pedestrian route to the school of La Hoya (€ 25,000), the remodeling of the road to Puente del Rasmao (€ 10,000), in Campillo and the paving of access to the urban center of the Diputación de Torrealvilla (€ 140,000).
