The Town Planning Councilor of Lorca, Satur Martinez, reported this morning that the Municipal Council has received an investor group a request for public interest to create in the hamlet of Los Jarales a permanent circuit for motorcycles and karts, whose facilities will also have a canteen service, warehouse and rural accommodation.

Satur Martinez explained that "the Local Government Board has reported favorably to this request, so it will be exposed for 20 days to the public so that citizens can submit their suggestions or claims. After this period the request will be transferred to the Autonomous Community, administration that will be the one in charge finally to decide its public utility ".

The Town Planning Councilor has indicated that "the permanent circuit for motorcycles and karts will be divided into three zones: an asphalt circuit for motorcycles and go-karts, a dirt circuit for enduro and trial bikes and a dirt track for Dirt Track. As complementary equipment and endowment for the activity, a children's area, a laundry area and a parking for customers will be created, in addition, the warehouse that will have an approximate area of ​​2,000 m2 will serve as a maintenance area and garage for vehicles linked to the activity, canteen and office As for rural accommodation, it should be noted that they will be type B, consisting of 6 wooden hut-type homes, 4 of 50 m2 each and 2 of 75 m2. 600,000 euros and would revitalize the economic activity in the area and the generation of employment, since it is estimated that 5 to 12 direct jobs will be created stable ".

Martinez has indicated that "at present, the municipality of Lorca does not have adequate circuits for the practice of certain motor sports, which is why pilots or fans of field bikes who practice activities such as motocross, enduro, trial, supermotard or the practice of speed with karts, are forced to move to other municipal areas.Thanks to the implementation of this circuit, Lorca and professionals will not have the need to travel to other points of the regional geography and they will be able to enjoy in our municipality facilities that are going to give an answer to a real demand ".

The Town Planning Minister added that "another important function that this circuit will have is to provide the population with adequate facilities in which to develop socially with sporting objectives, healthy competition and even with some training in terms of the correct use of motor vehicles on the public highway through the idea that speed activities must be developed in suitable facilities, and in the future these facilities could also be used to teach road safety courses to children and young people in the municipality " .

Satur Martínez, on the other hand, has stated that "the creation of this circuit together with the rural accommodation will be an added value to the quality of tourism offered by our municipality." The situation of the facilities, in the peripheral zone, close to the center of Lorca, and the nonexistent implementation of similar facilities in the Region of Murcia, with the exception of other circuits in Torre Pacheco and Cartagena, increase the tourist attractions to our municipal area ".

The Town Planning Councilor stressed that "this type of offer, having enough power to attract non-local visitors by itself, complements and diversifies existing activities and promotes the non-seasonal development of the municipality. the facilities for pilots and companies from other countries of Northern Europe that come to Spain in the winter months to carry out their training and that currently visit the area of ​​Catalonia.This will mean, in addition to the use of the circuits and their facilities, a demand for accommodation and meals, among others, and the promotion of Lorca and, in particular, the hamlet of Los Jarales as a winter destination for the practice of motor sports.
