The Councilor for Policy of the Mayor of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, the Dean of the Faculty of Sociosanitarias Sciences of the University Campus of Lorca, David Iyú, and the Manager of the Poncemar Foundation, Luis Martínez, presented this morning the informative days " Lorca, Friendly City with the Elderly "that will be held next Monday, November 13 at the University Campus of Lorca and are aimed at the entire society of Lorca but especially the boards of senior clubs throughout the municipality , the technicians of the different councils, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Ceclor and social agents.

Fátima Mínguez said that "the objective of these conferences is to present to all the groups in the city the project that since 2016 belongs and has been implemented by the City Council, and in which the Poncemar Foundation and the Chair of Gerontology, for To improve the lives of the elderly in our municipality, Lorca could not be less than a friendly city with these people who contribute so much to society.According to the World Health Organization, a "Friendly City with the Elderly" is one in which the policies, services and structures, as well as the physical and social environment, are designed to support and make the older person remain active, that is, to live safely, enjoy good health and participate in daily life, and that is the goal that we set ourselves from the City Council, working together for the active aging of our elders ".

Mayor Councilor added that "in this sense, what we intend to achieve is to generate processes of community participation in which local agents are involved, introduce changes in the different areas of competence of the municipality in order to improve the quality of life of the citizenship and make the most of all the potential that older people have, taking into account at all times their needs, perceptions and opinions, for which purpose, interviews will be conducted with the elderly in order to identify the positive and negative aspects of the city , being themselves who contribute their experiences, give suggestions for change and participate in the implementation of improvement projects ".

Mínguez recalled that "from the Department of Mayor we are developing every day a great task and a great job to promote active aging among the elderly throughout our municipality, a primary goal for our seniors feel sheltered, useful and integrated into a society that owes them a lot and that counts on them ".
