The execution of the works of renovation of Eulogio Periago de Lorca Street is already at 75 percent, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
This was announced today by the Director General of Planning, Architecture and Housing, Laura Sandoval, during her visit to the works financed by the regional government with an investment of 712,000 euros.
The general director stressed that "the works of one of the most emblematic accesses to the Lorca neighborhood of San Cristóbal, accounts for the involvement of the regional government in urban regeneration," and explained that the works being carried out will improve mobility and safety of pedestrians, "since there will be a street free of obstacles and unevenness".
The surface of this action is of 5,850 square meters and the pavement is being restored, the replacement of 740 linear meters of pipeline in the general supply network and another 530 of the sanitation networks.
In addition, the underground installation of 1,860 meters of public lighting and telecommunications network is being carried out.
The General Director of Territorial Planning explained that 24 state-of-the-art LED lights will be installed in this street and Arcos de Reverte, and 19 in the Peñica Park.
As for street furniture, 15 traffic signs will also be installed, three islands of underground containers composed of three containers each, seven bins, and five banks.
Laura Sandoval recalled that the Ministry and the City Council agreed with the neighbors on the different actions that were to be undertaken "with the common goal of achieving a more comfortable neighborhood that improves their quality of life."
7.5 million investment
The investment in the improvement of the San Cristóbal neighborhood amounts to 7.5 million euros, which will be used mainly to renovate the pavement, replace services and underground cable, the installation of a new network of supply and sanitation of 58 streets .
In addition to Eulogio Periago street, work is currently underway on the renovation of the following streets: Tomás Soler, Rincón de Oliver, Serón, Río Mundo, Río Miño, Fray Beato Pedro Soler, Juan Mínguez, Escalante, Grajalva and Travesía Ródenas, Gregorio García, Melchor Navarro, Segre River, Sil River, Júcar River, Calvario Viejo, and Tello.
The works are financed by the Autonomous Community within the action plan developed in the city under the loan of the European Investment Bank (EIB), and will be executed by the City of Lorca.
