They regret that the Popular Party voted against a motion with which the Socialists requested similar actions to those that now the SCRATS claims to alleviate the drought in the municipality of Lorca, such as, get the maximum production of the desalination, lower the cost of water production, or allow the transfer of rights between basins with surpluses and deficit basins.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Antonio Navarro has demanded the current Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil Jódar, to define their position and clarify if you are with Lorca farmers and their claims, or on the contrary, prefer to keep back to them, defending his party.
Navarro recalled that during the September plenary session, the PSOE requested through one of its motions that the Lorca City Council "take the necessary steps" to "guarantee more water and cheaper", thus optimizing the resources that today they have the farmers of the Guadalentín Valley.
Antonio Navarro ensures that, for the mere fact of being a motion proposed by the PSOE, the Popular Party rejected "en bloc" each and every one of these proposals aimed at solving the lack of water in the municipality proposed by the Socialists.
Navarro stressed that the PSOE motion of September coincides "exactly" with the claims that the SCRATS, the Central Union of Irrigators of the Tajo-Segura Aqueduct, now includes a manifesto published at the end of October, and that presented to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment.
In particular, Navarro ensures that the PSOE motion and the SCRATS manifesto coincide in the points where both request to apply "regulatory changes aimed at facilitating the processing of assignments of rights, where they emphasize" the urgent need to achieve the objective of maximum possible production of the existing desalination plants in our demarcation "as well as where they request the" implementation of a tariff for irrigation and homes fair and proportionate to the rest of the Nation's users ".
Therefore, with its vote against, the Popular Party rejected a motion of the PSOE and, with it, the battery of measures that the irrigators need.
Specifically, the popular voted against making efforts to achieve maximum production of desalination, lower the cost of water production, or allow the transfer of rights between basins with surpluses and deficit basins, promoting the free sale of those rights among Irrigation Communities.
For all this, Navarro asks the PP to be "responsible" and be able to meet proposals such as the PSOE, positive for irrigators, and not reject them for the fact that they are not your party.
In this sense, the socialists demand the PP to rectify their position, apologize to the irrigators Lorca and join the demands of farmers and ranchers to work "together" to solve the lack of water in the municipality of Lorca.
