Councilor Gloria Martin recalled that her training has been warning for years how some of them are being closed by the use of chains, wires and other elements that impede the transit of neighbors and has demanded that the City Council exercise the police function of these goods public
Gloria Martín, has demanded today the PP of Lorca to comply with a motion promoted by Izquierda Unida-Verdes, approved unanimously on January 25, 2016, which mandated the Local Government Board to "update the inventory municipal property and rights of Lorca, beginning with the immediate realization of an inventory of public roads in the municipality.
Martin recalled that, also at the urging of IU-Greens, and also with the unanimous support of the Municipal Corporation, on November 29, 2010, another motion was approved by which the City Council undertook to carry out "an updated census of all the existing roads and roads in its municipal area with specification of the corresponding ownership ".
In order to contribute to the realization of said census, the Community of Irrigators of Lorca would be asked for the list of roads made as a consequence of the modernization of irrigation.
However, seven years after that first municipal mandate, the PP still does not address the development of a complete and updated census of these public goods.
In this regard, Martin recalled that the defense and conservation of roads of municipal ownership "is an irrevocable competence of the municipalities to whom the police of the same correspond".
IU has been denouncing for years how some of them are being "closed" through the use of chains, wires and other elements that impede or hinder the transit to neighbors.
In addition, the lack of this instrument is preventing the City Council from obtaining funds for its settlement through the Regional Plan of Rural Roads promoted by the Autonomous Community of Murcia, co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (Feader).
In fact, Lorca could not participate in the second call for such plan, held in July this year, for lack of this census, although, according to data from the Directorate General of the Natural Environment, "has 131 rural roads of service without conditioning. "
To prevent that from happening again, and as "the first and essential step to adopt all the measures that are necessary for its proper defense and conservation", IU has been demanding for years that public roads and rights of way be collected in a municipal inventory of goods, which today has reminded the PP.
