The spokesman of the municipal group of IU-V, Pedro Sosa, has affirmed this morning that there is not a week without knocking on the doors of his political group neighbors of the different areas of Lorca in which public works are currently executed.
From Los Angeles and the neighborhood of San Cristóbal to the Alameda de Cervantes, passing through the works that have the main urban artery of the city, Avenida Juan Carlos I, every week complaints come to our political group.
The delay in execution, the intermittencies in the work, the bad execution, the lack of professionalism of some subcontracted companies or the fact that many citizens observe how new ditches are being opened in areas that were closed just a month ago, have Many neighbors stirred up with all the reason in the world.
Sosa states that the set of public works carried out in Lorca are characterized by "lack of control, obscurantism, lack of planning, coordination, information and citizen participation, no establishment of priorities, setting the electoral calendar as the horizon of completion, award to large foreign companies, subcontracting, and works financed with earthquake money in other municipalities that did not suffer the effects of earthquakes. "
For IU-V, that all this is happening leads us to think that the administration is making an irresponsible abandonment of its supervision and control functions.
It does not fit in our heads that the neighbors have to denounce while we do not know where they are and what the inspectors do in charge of the control and supervision of investments in which important amounts of public money are spent.
Sosa argues that those responsible for local and regional governments should be supervising the works as if they were carried out in their private homes and with their own money, and in this sense has affirmed that today is easier for a councilor of the opposition in Lorca have access to a works contract of the City of Madrid that any of the contracts that are currently executed in Lorca.
In addition, says the mayor of IU-V, other municipalities, such as the one in Madrid, are supervising and putting millions in fines for breach of contracts to some of the large companies that are also working in Lorca, to the detriment of local businessmen.
The problem, he says, is that it is supervised and controlled there, and here it looks the other way despite the continual complaints.
Finally, he announced that in addition to demanding responsibility for this lack of control, an audit of all the public works that have been carried out and that are being carried out in Lorca at the expense of the EIB loan is essential.
Sosa warns that if the City Council does not show interest in the audit, that public irresponsibility will try to alleviate its political group by raising the request to other political bodies: regional, national and European.
