Mazuecos returns to demand the integral restoration of the emblematic facade of the Lorca campus, which still presents the visible damage left by the 2011 earthquakes, and regrets that the PP agrees to project this daily image so painful that, for the PSOE , is the main educational institution of the city
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has once again demanded that the Popular Party do everything in its power to proceed, immediately, to the complete restoration of the facades of the main building that houses the Rectorate and administration services of the University Campus of Lorca.
Mazuecos says it is "shameful" that six years after the earthquakes that shook the city, the Lorca campus building still shows the deterioration caused by the magnitude of the 2011 earthquake. The socialist mayor criticizes that, judging by the state that presents , no one in the Popular Party has moved "a finger" in six years to improve the "unsightly and dangerous" state of the façade of the "most important educational institution in the city".
María Ángeles Mazuecos assures that the institutional "abandonment" suffered by this building causes it to be the object of vandalism.
For years now, the façade has been subject to damage and graffiti that disfigure the aesthetics of the building and its surroundings.
They also denounce the state of abandonment that the whole site presents, and which results in an "undesirable and improper" image of these facilities.
Mazuecos criticizes that the Popular Party is consenting to be projected daily this very painful image to students, neighbors and visitors.
In fact, remember that this week, the site will be visited by hundreds of people on the occasion of the festivity of the patron of the faculty, San Clemente for what he regrets the "image" that will take visitors.
The Socialists say that the abandonment of the façade and the university campus is the "visible face" of the state of abandonment to which the PP has plunged the university campus Lorca.
Mazuecos regrets that the Popular Party continues to suffocate the development of the University of Lorca, driven by socialist governments, and still not realize that "Lorca is a university city" and that the Campus "should be and will be" a source of wealth and of economic and social development for Lorca and its region ".
Before the "immobilism" of the Popular Party in Lorca, Mazuecos announces that they will initiate actions through the Regional Assembly to demand the integral restoration of the facades of the University Campus of Lorca.
It is not the first time that Lorca socialists denounce this situation.
Already in the plenary session of September 2016, Mazuecos highlighted the need to launch the project for the recovery of the exterior facades of the Building of Administrative Services and Rector of the University Campus, to which the PP responded that "it was all solved ".
The state of the façade shows that "the PP is lying again" as in many other cases.
In addition, reports the socialist mayor, who from the University Campus Consortium itself has made a written query to the Department of Culture.
Specifically, it was last May, when this agency requested that the arrangement be made with charge to the Master Plan, being "the silence for answer what has been obtained in these six months".
