The Councilor for Development and Infrastructure of the City of Lorca, Angel Meca, and the Director General of Planning, Architecture and Housing of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Laura Sandoval, visited this morning the urban renewal works that they are doing in the Escalante street of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal, which is expected to end next week as they are at 90% execution.
Ángel Meca pointed out that "the works of this popular street in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal that are entering its final stretch cover a total area of ​​1,350 square meters, in which prefabricated concrete paving has been used in various colors, and have a budget of more than 239,000 euros.The improvements Escalante Street respond to the firm commitment of both the Regional Government and the City of Lorca with the residents of the neighborhood of San Cristóbal to improve their urban environment, street by street.
The Councilor for Development has explained that "the actions being carried out consist in the complete renovation of the pavement of this street as well as that of Fray Pedro Soler, the replacement of the supply, sanitation and storm water networks, as well as the underground channeling of public lighting, the low voltage distribution network and telecommunications ".
Specifically, a new general supply network has been installed, which has a length of 259 linear meters of ductile iron pipe, while the street has been equipped with a separate sanitation network of 220 linear meters with a water pipeline. PVC 315 and rainwater of 75 meters by a PVC 400 pipe and 2 scuppers of 10 meters for the collection of rainwater.
The work on this road has also allowed to provide it with an underground network of 296 meters for the underground channeling of public lighting, which will serve the new 12 LED lights last generation, made of aluminum and will be placed on cast iron arms.
Escalante street also has thanks to this performance of a new underground network for the distribution of electricity in low voltage, which has been enabled by the installation of 225 meters of pipes whose objective is to allow the burying of low voltage lines.
The basement of the street will house a network for the distribution of telecommunications services, for which 245 meters of canalizations have been made. In terms of street furniture, 10 traffic signs and 100 bollards have also been installed to separate the pedestrian zone from the road
The actions in these streets are part of a much wider project of integral renovation of the Lorca neighborhood of San Cristóbal, which began in 2007, covers a total of 58 streets and represents an investment by the Community of more than 7.5 million of euros charged to the loan of the European Investment Bank (EIB), and are executed by the City of Lorca.
