The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has defended to give an "urgent response" to local financing and that this is done within the framework of the reform of the regional financing model, asking that it be done "on the basis of the principles of efficiency, equity, fiscal co-responsibility and institutional loyalty ".

For this, the Socialists will present a motion to the next Plenary Session of the City of Lorca, firstly, to demand that the Regional Assembly process a new Law of local financing so that, through participation in regional taxes, it is guaranteed of unconditional resources and enough for the municipalities to provide their own services.

In parallel, Mateos calls for a global law of local financing that adapts to the new reality of the municipalities and guarantees the principles of autonomy and financial sufficiency.

According to Mateos, the financing of the Local Entities, and more specifically of the Town Councils, is still a "pending issue of the autonomous state."

He assures that the issue of local financing has never had the attention and the sufficient repercussion so that it has not even become a main issue of the political agenda, when "it should be approached as a real question of State".

To solve this situation, Mateos is committed to the creation of a fund for the participation of local entities in the tributes of the Autonomous Community of the Murcia Region, of unconditional nature, and to establish criteria for the provision, distribution and dynamic evolution of the same.

However, he assures that the improvement of the income of the Local Entities should not only remain in the participation in the autonomic taxes, but should go hand in hand with a comprehensive reform of the local financing system, by updating the state regulations and of financing instruments, both external and of own resources, that make, as a whole, that the municipalities have sufficient and appropriate economic resources to face the challenges that already arise in an increasingly complex society .
