The Integrated Training Center and Agricultural Experiences (Cifea) of Lorca recently held a conference on 'Innovative solutions for storage and irrigation ponds', promoted by the Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries and the company Cool Trade Consulting, aimed at the technicians of the agricultural and livestock sector, which was attended by more than 70 specialists.
The program of the Conference included the study of photovoltaic applications in irrigation, as well as a comparison of the different systems for covering rafts, which currently allow to avoid up to 80 percent of the evaporation of water destined for irrigation and obtain a greater energy efficiency in the facilities.
Different methods for the treatment of algae and sludge were also addressed, through oxygen injection and ozonation systems, and the automation processes in the irrigation of plots.
Finally, a visit was made to the floating photovoltaic installation of the Huerto Chico raft in Lorca, the largest in Europe, which aroused great interest among the attendees.
