This year the "Open Space" is recovered, with the presence of the Azarbe collective.

The Councilor for Culture and Celebrations in the City Council of Lorca, Agustín Llamas, together with the President of the Cuadrilla de Aguaderas, Pedro Sánchez, presented this morning the XIV Traditional Folklore Competition "Campo de Lorca", an event that thanks to the extraordinary work developed by this group has become one of the great references in terms of costumbrismo and traditions of the region of Lorca and the closest areas.
It will be held next Sunday, December 3, starting at 11 o'clock in the morning at the Aguaderas beach, at which time the Holy Mass will take place.
At 12 there will be dances with the cuadrillas in the street, and around 2:00 pm we will have the opportunity to taste a lunch of typical products of our region.
The dances and cantes will resume at 3:30 pm with Cuadrillas on the stage, while at 7:00 pm the open space will be held with the group Azarbe and at 8:00 pm there will be dancing loose.
El Edil de Cultura explained that with the arrival of December, the quintessential quadrillero month, the traditional folklore contest of the Lorca countryside is held at the deputation of Aguaderas.
With the origin of the local squad meeting that was held in this hamlet, in 2004 it takes the current format.
Traditional music groups from different parts of Spain have passed through this event, including of course those from the Murcia region.
You can enjoy artisan gastronomy, loose dance with participation of the public and performance of the groups on stage.
Making this event a traditional festival framed in a rural setting at the foot of the Sierra de la Almenara, which we invite to accompany all citizens.
Llamas Gómez has anticipated that in addition to the host Cuadrilla, the participating groups this year are the Cuadrillas de Marina de Cope (Águilas), El Esparragal de Puerto Lumbreras, and Ánimas de Vélez Rubio: (Almería), Sangonera La Verde "Troveros de la Huerta "(Murcia), together with the Panda of Verdiales de Jotrón y Lomillas (Málaga).
It is a contest of traditional folklore with national character.
Although the event revolves around ancient popular music, other parallel activities can be seen, always related to popular traditions.
Samples of esparto crafts are made;
exhibitions of implements and old utensils, carts with oxen or mules rigged in the old way and elaboration and tasting of homemade bread.
The Councilman of Culture has said that since its inception have passed through the contest more than thirty traditional music groups from various provinces of the national geography, including the Canary Islands.
This year it has been decided by the organization of the event to recover the Folk space, in order to outline it as an open space in which to accommodate any type of musical manifestation related to traditional popular music.
This event has acquired a very important weight within the panorama of the meetings of folkloric groups throughout the Spanish East.
Although the activity of the crew begins in the late 70s, and having gone through different stages, it is not until about 6 or 7 years ago when it takes a qualitative leap and enters fully into the "circuit" of meetings and festivals.
A gang formed by hospitable and grateful people, and that, like those of the Lorca area, exudes strength and impetus.
This group of people, made a laborious work of recovery and revitalization, getting put where it deserves to the repertoire of music and dances of Ánimas de Aguaderas.
