The Councilor for Public Safety in the City of Lorca, María Belén Pérez, reported that agents of the Prevention and Local Operating Response Units (UPROL), have proceeded to the identification of 8 people related to alleged abductions of almonds in the area of the Pedanías of the North of the Municipal Term, in an operation that has supposed the intervention of more than 300 kilograms of almonds that these person carried when they were surprised.
Pérez Martínez explained that this operation is part of the preventive / operational actions that are carried out by the Local Police Corps and includes two interventions.
The first took place last week in the Pedanía de Nogalte, when local police officers were alerted by neighbors in the area of ​​the existence of several people who allegedly were stealing almonds.
After receiving this information, members of the UPROL Unit established an Operational Prevention device that resulted in the location of a vehicle occupied by 5 people who had numerous police records for crimes against heritage in rural areas.
La Edil de Seguridad has stated that after inspecting the vehicle in which these people were traveling, 7 sacks containing almonds, weighing about 30 kilograms each, were located inside, and whose origin they could not prove, which is why proceeded to his intervention and deposited in police dependencies, all for the purpose of making the corresponding inquiries to determine their origin.
María Belén Pérez has reported that the second action took place last week in the same hamlet, as a result of the implementation of another Operational Prevention Device in which a vehicle was located occupied by three people who had numerous records for crimes against the heritage, especially in rural areas, and in which they carried 3 sacks of almonds that yielded a weight of about 100 kilograms.
The origin of this merchandise also could not be accredited, reason why it proceeded to its intervention deposit in police dependencies.
Of these facts the Civil Guard of Lorca was informed for the accomplishment of the corresponding investigations, being this institution the one who continues with the investigations tending to the clarification of the facts.
