The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, with Sister Rosa Calvo, of the Daughters of Charity, reported this morning that the Lorca Consistory will allocate 4,500 euros to help with the work done by the Work Social "Santa Luisa de Marillac" Daughters of Charity in our city.
It is an aid from a family reconciliation project approved by the CARM as part of a family support grant.
The Socio-Educational Project ALCA (Alternative to the street) is a resource aimed at improving the quality of life, childhood and adolescence, promoting from a socio-educational content the integral and healthy evolution of children.
It is intended for children between the ages of 3 and 16 whose situation is considered to be socially risky, such as school absenteeism and problems in the family;
being the group to which the project is directed, mostly coming from the most unprotected neighborhoods of the city and taking place during after-school hours.
The area of ​​intervention of the project is included within the "Barrios Altos", considered neighborhoods that are characterized by their vulnerability from an urban and social perspective.
The minors, in some cases, arrive derived from the educational centers and in others from social services.
The process of attention ends when the user has fulfilled the objectives, when they have reached the age of majority and pass, satisfactorily, to another educational level.
In addition, it should be noted that thanks to the great work done by the Sisters of Charity some children continue to go as volunteers to the entity.
This project has a total of 4 workers, divided into 2 teachers, 1 social educator and 1 psychologist and about 100 children are cared for.

In this sense, a school of parents is also carried out in which they are given information on social, educational and cultural resources, training sessions and coexistence between children and parents take place.

In 1999, the "Alca" Project was launched, after an analysis of the reality of the minors in the neighborhood of San Pedro, in which it was found that many children of school age were on the street during after-school hours, as many parents they worked in the field.
