The Councilors of Works and Local Development in the City of Lorca, Angel Meca and Sandra Martinez, have reported that the Municipal Council today began the extraordinary planting of Christmas floral ornamentation to decorate the green spaces of our town for these holidays.
This is a task in which students who are beneficiaries of the City Council's employment workshops are participating, who, moreover, have been the ones who have planted and raised the flowers that will allow this ornamentation.
This year it will proceed to plant more than 4,500 copies from municipal nurseries, which is a significant saving for all Lorca.
Going into details, the traditional Easter flowers (Poisenttias) will decorate the San Fernando roundabouts and evacuation round, as well as those of San Antonio and Ovalo, Plazas Calderón, Colón and Concha Sandoval, the gardens of Alfonso X, San Diego, La Viña and Alameda de la Constitución, as well as the balconies of the Town Hall, Archaeological Museum, Ruano Orchard and Guevara Palace.
From the Town Hall, within the actions to aesthetically improve the city during these dates, will be extended hours of operation of the fountains of Oval, San Antonio, Colon, La Viña, La Estrella and Virgen de las Huertas, so that Now they will be running between 1 pm and 2 pm and from 6:30 pm to 10 pm.
The balconies of the Town Hall, Archaeological Museum, Huerto Ruano and Palacio de Guevara will also be florally decorated in order to improve the Christmas image of the spaces for more pedestrian and vehicular traffic of the municipality.
In this way the number of green spaces that are decorated with these plants for these holidays is increased.
The Christmas ornamentation will also be carried out in districts, where more than 2,000 flowers, such as thoughts and brassicas, will be planted.
These are species that best withstand the rigorous temperatures of this time of year, while offering a better image.
From the Municipal Consistory calls for civic responsibility to avoid that once planted the flowers of the special ornamentation of Christmas the gardens are stepped on or plants are started as has happened on other occasions, and advocates to get together our municipality present a special stamp on these dates so indicated.
