The Spokesman of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has proposed the processing of a new contract for the renewal of energy services that would allow the City to save up to one million euros of what is currently paid for consumption and maintenance municipal, as well as improve public lighting and effectively reduce polluting emissions.
Mateos is also committed to applying this change in the contract for energy services, maintaining the current workforce of municipal workers and respecting their working conditions, seniority and recognized rights.
Ensures that "is perfectly compatible."
With this proposal of the PSOE, Mateos ensures that a "triple benefit" for the municipality of Lorca would be achieved.
In the first place, he points out, the reduction in electricity consumption between 50 and 60% would be achieved, which would mean an "automatic reduction" of the costs of electricity bills paid by the City of Lorca, between 30 and 40%
In addition, with this change in the electricity services contract, the public lighting network would be renewed and improved, since it ensures "all obsolete installations that do not meet energy efficiency criteria would be renewed and repaired".
In this way, it would also be possible to reduce the current polluting emissions.
As a step prior to the processing of this new contract, Mateos has pointed out the need to perform an audit on the current state of the current energy service, to have an inventory that allows to know the current situation of public lighting points and act in a priority in those areas most in need of a renovation.
Mateos pointed out that this change is already being faced by municipalities such as Murcia, Pamplona or Altea, among the more than 50 municipalities spread across the national territory that have already taken this step, insisting "it is possible to achieve energy and economic savings to through the modernization of the municipal lighting network ".
In the case of Lorca, Diego José Mateos ensures that a minimum saving of one million euros would be achieved for the municipal coffers.
Taking into account that, according to the budgets of 2018 for the municipality, the municipal bill to pay both the electricity consumption and the material for maintenance amounts to 3.5 million euros, this measure would mean a saving of 30%, with a reduction of one million euros which, he adds, "could go to any other municipal service or provision that needs it".
Once this step is taken, Mateos points out that this renovation could also be extended to energy services contracted with municipal buildings, such as the City Council itself, sports centers, stadiums or even the schools themselves, whose maintenance and payment of electricity consumption is the responsibility of the municipality.
In this way, he insists, a "greater saving" would be achieved.
