Lorca socialists propose a modification of the ordinance of animal ownership to contemplate the obligation to clean or dilute the urine that so much damage the image of the city.

In addition, they ask for the development of awareness campaigns, such as the distribution of "bottles against urine", and the application of sanctions for users who do not comply with the regulations

The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez has asked the delegate councilor of Limusa to be released taking "immediate" measures to increase public awareness and work against the urine of dogs in Lorca that "damage" the image from the city.

Ensures that it is one of the "most widespread" citizen complaints and that the PP "is not doing everything in its power" to reverse the "unfortunate aspect" that "degrades" the urban environment of the city.

The socialist Lorca have taken the initiative and have proposed a battery of measures to fight, effectively, against the urine of pets in Lorca and the stains left on streets and street furniture in the city.

This was stated this morning at a press conference by the Socialist councilor, Maria Antonia Garcia Jimenez, who has raised the need to amend the current animal tenure, to contemplate the obligation to "clean or dilute" urine on public roads .

As a first step, the PSOE proposes that the City of Lorca, through the company Limusa, develop a campaign of awareness directed to pet owners are responsible for the urine and excrement of their pets.

To facilitate this task, ask for the distribution of "bottles" with the aim that these are filled with a mixture of equal parts of water and vinegar, "mix" with which to avoid the appearance of spots that micturition of dogs cause in the corners, facades and furniture of the city.

García Jiménez says that the cost of this initiative is "negligible" taking into account the "millionaire benefits" that the municipal company Limusa has and that, they insist, should be reversing the cleanliness of the streets and the welfare of citizens.

In addition, he stressed that this initiative is already being done "successfully" in cities such as Granada, Mataró, Elche or in the neighboring municipality of Águilas.

Similarly, the Socialists ask for an increase in the distribution of plastic bags as well as more information on the points of distribution of the same, so that users know in which areas of the city there are dispensers of these bags for the collection of animal droppings.

Parallel to the development of this awareness campaign, the PSOE asks that the City of Lorca ensure that users are responsible for the excrement of animals.

For this, they ask for the application of sanctions for those users who do not comply with the regulations.

In this sense, they propose that the money from the fines be allocated to awareness campaigns that, finally, revert to the solution to this problem that the Popular Party has been "unable" to solve during its more than 10 years of government in the city .
