This new municipal unit will be built on the existing structure of a building at numbers 13 and 14 of Cava street and will host all the services offered by the Department of Equality, particularly the CAVI.
It is an infrastructure that will host the development of training activities, leisure and cultural programs.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Councilor for Equality, Juan Francisco Martínez, supervised this morning the works for the completion and implementation of the House of Equality, a new equipment that is provided to the city that will be located in Cava street, thanks to the works are being executed throughout these weeks and that will allow the opening of this infrastructure foreseeably before the summer.
Fulgencio Gil has stressed that this infrastructure is a space that will host all municipal services on Equality, one of the most important being the CAVI (Specialized Care Center for Women Victims of Gender Violence).
It will offer users the possibility of participating in training and leisure activities, as well as in cultural programs specifically aimed at the female collective.
The creation of the House of Equality will mark a milestone in the attention and improvement of the situation of women in the City of the Sun. In this sense, this visit that we carry out today joins others that we have been carrying out in recent weeks to different enclaves of the municipality that have the objective of benefiting Lorca in the coming months.
This is the case of the improvement of the local network of communications and districts, the realization of the new glass of the Waste Management Center, the extension of the Industrial Park of La Hoya and the improvements in the different educational centers of the municipality ".
The Mayor said that with the entry into service of this infrastructure, this city makes available to all Lorca that need it, a quality equipment, which offers a comprehensive service to the group, and with which Lorca is located the regional vanguard in assisting women and promoting equality.
From the Municipal Executive we are fully aware of the struggle for the real achievement of gender equality, and this powerful investment is one of the clearest examples in this regard.
Fulgencio Gil explained that this new center will be erected in the numbers 13 and 14 of Cava Street, next to the Plaza de España and a few meters from the headquarters of the City Council, within the axis of municipal services that are located in the casco historical of the city, such as the Statistics Service, the Local Tax Agency, the Municipal Archive and the Department of Tourism, Information Society, Agriculture and Contracting, among others,
We are talking about equipment that constitutes a special revulsive for the revitalization of the historic center of our city.
The term of execution of the work is 6 months, and the investment made in it is 593,643.27 euros, so we hope that, if there are no significant unforeseen events, it may be completed before this summer.
The Mayor of Lorca explained that previously at the beginning, the work was with the concrete structure and partition divisions finished.
The plumbing, sanitation, air conditioning and electricity installations were in a very advanced stage of execution.
At present, the work focuses on completing the roof waterproofing and the external hole closings, as well as all the finishes in general.
The First Edil has stressed that thanks to this new investment by the Consistory on Equality, the building, which retains a part of the historic facade of the building, will host the Women's Care Center of Lorca, with a total area of 685 m2 built, which are distributed over four floors above ground and a basement below ground.
The basement is intended for assembly hall and storage of facilities, while the rest of the floors are used for reception, warehouse, 7 offices, two waiting rooms and two joint areas of work stations, one for meetings and the corresponding toilets.
The building is adapted to the accessibility of people with reduced mobility, and its program responds to the care and training of women who need it. "
The Mayor has explained that in terms of endowment, the building will have furniture for the entire property;
voice and data network for 18 workstations, 32-seat conference room equipped with audiovisual and public address systems, home automation control system, climate control per room according to needs and use, alarm system, low consumption LED lighting and 5-lift stops. "
It should be remembered that the City Council has made available to the broad associative fabric of women's collectives a network that includes nearly fifty locations so that they can develop their activity, covering both the urban case, neighborhoods and districts.
