The Councilor for Health of the City of Lorca, María del Carmen Ruiz, has announced the completion of the campaign launched in mid-December by this municipal area, with the collaboration of the Official College of Veterinarians of the Region of Murcia and the 7 veterinary clinics in the city, which aimed to chipado local pets.
La Edil recalled that "through this initiative, the free chipado of 700 new animals has been subsidized." It should be remembered that pet owners are obliged to implant an electronic identifier, accompanied by the corresponding identification document provided by licensed veterinarians. microchip is a painless system of easy and quick insertion that allows to find the animals in case of loss or theft and demonstrate their property throughout the life of the pet.It is a fundamental tool that affects the benefit of the owners , but also of the animals themselves, also the non-identification is a serious infraction that can be sanctioned with fines from 1,501 to 6,000 euros, while the abandonment of an animal, a very serious infraction, will be sanctioned with a fine of 6,001 to 30,000 euros. "
Ruiz recalled that "the campaign in Lorca had the peculiarity that fully subsidized the chipado 700 animals, specifically dogs, cats or ferrets, Lorca being the only city on offer at no cost." The initiative was in force until the end of January or until the stocks are exhausted, as has finally happened, what has made it a resounding success and has allowed us to raise awareness about the importance of the chipado of pets.
