It is providing this area of the city with 18,205 m2 of cobblestone, 2 kilometers of water supply network, 152 meters of networks for wastewater, 375 of networks for rainwater, more than 2.5 kilometers of irrigation water network , and more than 3.2 kilometers of last generation LED lighting with built-in remote management.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the General Director of Territorial Planning, Architecture and Housing of the CARM, Laura Sandoval, and the Councilor for Works, Ángel Meca, supervised this morning the progress of the urban renewal works that are being made in the Alameda de Cervantes area.
The First Edil has indicated that the intervention in Alameda de Cervantes will allow us to eliminate the significant gap in the stretch between the urbanization of La Isla and the popularly known as "casas del banco".
It is an enclave in which slopes greater than 2 meters were recorded, and now, thanks to the execution of the works, which represent an investment of 3.2 million euros, we will have the opportunity to solve.
In this way, we eliminated an additional internal barrier within our own urban case, configuring a more comfortable, modern, aesthetic and operational street profile.
This is an objective that we already took into account when defining the final project, thanks to the contributions made precisely by the neighbors and traders in the area.
For its suppression, a filling and compaction has been carried out for which it has been necessary to have several tons of aggregates.
The First Edil has anticipated that in 15 days, if there are no unforeseen contingencies that prevent it, the works will begin in the area of La Isla. The percentage of works executed so far exceeds 30%, with a forecast for the conclusion of the same that places us in August.
One of the challenges we have undertaken to complete this project is to be able to apply the layer of agglomerate tread on María Agustina, Carlos María Barberán and adjacent streets, next week, as well as start with the base layer at Alameda de Cervantes.
The aforementioned streets already have paved sidewalks, so that a total area of 5,842 m2 has been completed, distributed in 2,502 m2 in María Agustina and adjacent, 2,690 in Alameda de Cervantes and another 650 in Carlos María Barberán.
Regarding the completion of the sidewalks in the section between oval and level crossing, the objective of having them completed during the month of March has been marked.
The Mayor has indicated that, as main figures, we must take into account that this area of the city is being provided with 18,205 m2 of cobblestone, 2 kilometers of water supply network, 152 meters of sewage networks, 375 of networks for rainwater, more than 2.5 kilometers of irrigation water network, and more than 3.2 kilometers of last generation LED lighting with remote management incorporated.
Fulgencio Gil has detailed that during the last weeks he has been working on the improvement of the urban environment of this great artery, achieving significant advances among which stand out the actions in the Urbanization San Rafael and in the vicinity of the Local Development Center.
In the Urbanization of San Rafael, the concrete slab on which the cobblestones of the sidewalks will be supported has been extended.
It also continues with the placement of curbs for sidewalks towards the Oval of Santa Paula.
In Calle Escultor Isidro Salvatierra, the curb laying has already been completed on the right margin towards the Alameda, and continues on the left margin until the works are completed.
At the intersection between Alameda de Cervantes and Rafael Méndez, the installation of urban telecommunications services has been carried out, while in the vicinity of the CDL, the installation of services continues, once the channeling of services and the filling of services have been completed. the ditches.
Carlos María Barberán Street has begun work on the installation of services, which will reach the junction with Calle Vicente Aleixandre.
It should be noted that the Alameda de Cervantes will become a modern area, better communicated and with more resources available to all its neighbors, who have participated in the process of creating the project.
Thanks to this ambitious process we will complete the improvement of an area that has gone from being a mere access road to the center to become a strategic area for the number of neighbors, commercial facilities and public services as important as the Police Station, the Center Lorca-Sutullena Health Center, the Mental Health Center, the Municipal School of Plastic Arts, the School of Music, the Municipal Children's School, the Local Development Center, the Department of Social Services or the Early Care Center.
The urban renewal of the Alameda de Cervantes is an essential project for the development of the Nueva Lorca, since it is a strategic road that connects with the accesses to Lorca through the Central Round, but also because in recent times It has become a residential area for an increasing number of Lorca.
The project benefits an area of more than 40,000 m2 between the Oval and the Ronda, as well as including the adjacent roads such as Alameda Rafael Méndez, María Agustina, urbanization La Isla, ... and the opening of a new connection with the Camino Marín in parallel to the train track.
All the basic internal infrastructures and all the public decoration are being renovated: paving, furniture, new children's games and geronto-gymnastics equipment, and the green spaces and vegetation will be enhanced.
We must also make special emphasis that through this work we will put a definitive solution to some of the endemic problems in this area.
For example, the new rain collector will solve the water retentions that occurred in the Cross of the Cat every time it rained with intensity.
