Gema Quiñonero López, student of the 2nd Baccalaureate of Research of the IES Francisco Ros Giner, has been distinguished in the XXX edition of the National Contest of Young Researchers with the ONCE Foundation Special Award for the best research work, aimed at improving quality of life of people with disabilities.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a two-week stay in one of the centers that the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) has spread across the national geography.
The award-winning work is entitled 3D Printing in the prosthetic industry and has been coordinated by the teachers Mª de Lourdes Barnés Romero, D. Antonio García Zamora, Ms Esther Sánchez Pérez;
and also has had the collaboration of D. Rosendo Sánchez Manchón.
In it, Gema Quiñonero proposes the study of existing technology and the use of 3D printing to facilitate the rapid manufacture of personalized prostheses, reducing costs and simplifying the process.
He has used a heuristic method, of discovery of strategies, that includes, both the work in the workshop to manufacture the prosthesis, and the digital work to obtain and edit the 3D model.
Finally, he has achieved a prototype that the Jury of the Competition has recognized.
