The situation of this park is one more example of the state of neglect and neglect in which the urban regeneration works enter once they are inaugurated, as a consequence of the lack of attention and maintenance by the team of PP councilors.
The residents of the neighborhood are outraged by this situation since the park, less than two years after its inauguration, is not safe for users, especially children.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, David Romera has denounced the situation of neglect and abandonment in which is the park of the Casa Mata in the neighborhood of San Diego less than two years after its inauguration.
Romera explained that less than two years after the inauguration by the staff of the PP of Lorca and the Region of Murcia of the works, and one year since its final reception by the City Council, the Park of the House Mata San Diego offers a "shameful" aspect to the lack of attention and maintenance by the government team of the PP, which has the habit, once finished and pompously inaugurated the works of urban regeneration, "leave them in the most absolute forgetfulness. "
San Diego and the Parque de la Casa Mata, "is another example, as it also happens in other neighborhoods such as La Viña, Alfonso X el Sabio or San José, where there has been the rapid degradation of works that have cost a lot of money and that for want of an adequate maintenance, they offer a lamentable aspect and many deficiencies ".
Romera indicates that the conditions in which the Parque de la Casa Mata is located "do not make it recommendable for users".
The deficiencies are many: the sports courts do not have protection fences except one and this one is broken, they become waterlogged when it rains, they arrive at the land and mud trawls of the bridge pier, the streetlights are glued to the play area so which is dangerous because of the risk of collision and the anchors of the fences removed were not eliminated;
the gardening is in a disastrous situation due to the fact that it has not been protected from the promenade areas, the gums of the drip irrigation are not buried, many plants have dried up or have not been replaced, appearing large bald areas devoid of vegetation;
there are broken bins;
the fence of the pipi-can is shattered;
Large slabs of the open-air auditorium have broken and appear shattered on the floor;
the garbage accumulates in the access ramps to the park;
children's play areas flooded when it rains;
the petanque courts are in a bad state of conservation, with large holes where even the protective geotextile appears;
There are no water troughs either.
This situation, concludes Romera, "is unworthy of the residents of the neighborhood, who see how the park deteriorates day by day and has become a degraded place, unsafe for children and young people who use it." They ask the mayor of Lorca and the Councilor of Works to "proceed to the rapid repair of the serious damage that presents the Park of the House Mata, and increase vigilance to prevent further deterioration of this space."
