They affirm that it is not a reason to celebrate, but a symptom of the need for improvement that our region presents on this issue.
After systematically suspending this autonomous community in the different reports of recent years prepared by the State Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services in terms of the management of the dependency, Murcia being always at the tail of the country, it is already time to that serious and urgent measures be taken.
While it is true that there is an increase in the number of recipients receiving in the Region some kind of assistance, benefit or service from the Unit in more than 30,000 people, and that, at the same time, the waiting list is reduced, the fact that, To this day, 5,317 Murcians are still waiting for the benefits to which they are entitled, this is not good news for IURM-Greens.
They emphasize that 13.5% of people recognized as dependents entitled to benefit in Murcia are waiting to receive their assistance, while still 30% of people rated with a grade I (the mildest) are waiting of their aid in the Region.
Since the formation of left remember that Murcia has been, traditionally, one of the communities with worse results in the application of the Law of Dependence, so they say that it is questionable very seriously both the management and policies in dependence that have been has been doing so far and that so many criticisms have been received by the political organization.
From IURM-Greens state that it is necessary to question the quality of the services that are being offered, since the fact that the region continues to be deficient in residences and day centers, and that it is also in line at home help after 11 years of being in force the law, is very significant.
In fact, remember that one of the issues that IURM-Greens has reported more in these years is that the region has opted for economic benefits (precarious and deficit, in addition) rather than for investment in centers and services as the legal standard establishes.
In total, 46% of dependents in the Region receive a service, while in Spain the percentage rises to 67%.
In addition, they affirm that the multiple cuts in the system of attention to dependence during the hardest years of the crisis have resulted in lower benefits, higher co-payments and more restrictive scales;
while hundreds of people have died without receiving the aid to which they were entitled because their files remained paralyzed for years, having to support the IMAS a significant number of court convictions for violating the rights of dependents.
They affirm from the formation of the left that the current slight improvement (recognized even by the Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services cited above) in the policies of care for dependents, should not cause the pending subjects of the regional government to be forgotten. This matter, and remember that the precarization of services and economic benefits continue to be an imperative for this region, in order to normalize the lives of dependents and their families.
Do not forget, they say, of the necessary boost required by a provision as necessary as home help, provided in most municipalities by outsourced companies;
nor that we have fewer places in residences and day centers per capita than the national average, which means that 54% of dependent people receive economic benefits to the caregiver in the Region (something that the law itself considers should be an exception) while only 8.5% occupy a place in a public day center, and 10% in a residence.
For all these reasons, IURM-Greens warn of the important structural deficits suffered by the social services of the Community for years and demand that the regional government not relax with the recognized improvements and reformulate the policies of attention to dependents and their relatives, without a doubt, some of the groups most punished by the crisis years and most neglected by the regional government.
