García Jiménez recalls that 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the foundation of one of the most significant buildings on Corredera Street and of Lorca's heritage, due to its history and uniqueness.
The Socialists ask that activities be programmed during the year to publicize and highlight their history, and regret that the Popular Party keeps "paralyzed" the rehabilitation of this building and the lack of definition regarding its future public use.
The councilor of the PSOE in the City of Lorca, María Antonia García Jiménez has requested the development of a program of activities to commemorate the centenary of the foundation of the historic building of the Agrarian Chamber, the only modernist style in Lorca and one of the buildings most significant of the street Corredera and the municipality "for its history and uniqueness."
García Jiménez has claimed the celebration of the centenary of the building of the Agrarian Chamber, while also awaiting the completion of the restoration work on the property.
Since the PSOE regret that this building reaches 100 years while the Popular Party keeps "paralyzed" their rehabilitation and while they have been unable to specify what public use will be given to this building.
María Antonia García recalled that, since 2013, the PP has on the table the proposal of the PSOE to rehabilitate and value this property, and reconvert it as an ethnographic and hydraulic museum, according to the finalist spirit and services of agricultural interest of Law 5/2008.
The socialists say that the enhancement of this building can be "decisive" for the reactivation of the commercial and social life of the Corredera street.
However, they regret that, to this day, the building is closed and it is unknown "when and what use will be given".
Therefore, they demand the Mayor or Councilor for Culture
The only modernist building in Lorca is 100 years old since its foundation.
García Jiménez has asked the Mayor and the Councilor for Culture to explain if they have any programming to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the "Cámara" Building.
In the opposite case, from the PSOE proposed to carry out a program of cultural and festive activities, for example, through the College of Architects of Murcia, to give lectures on the figure of the architect of the work D. Mario Spottorno and Sainz de Andino.
Conferences, talks by historians, geographers, architects, urban planners, restorers and economists with special emphasis on the recovery of heritage and the Lorca of the late nineteenth century early twentieth, the importance of the Agricultural Chamber in the Lorca society in the twentieth century, they could be some of the activities with which "to raise" the history and the ample legacy that represents for Lorca and its agricultural character this building.
"The Official Agricultural Chamber of Lorca" founded the Caja Rural and Savings and Loans, at the same time that it bought Mrs. Lorenza Mazuchelli, the building known today as "La Cámara", on May 13, 1918. Then, she was hired remodeling work to Cartagena architect D. Mario Spottorno and Sainz de Andino, and in January 1919, the project of this façade was presented to the Town Hall, the works being concluded three months later.
Then the works of the interior were undertaken, which ended in December 1919.
