Pedro Sosa, a spokesman for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the municipality of Lorca, announced this morning the motion to be presented at the next regular plenary session for the month of January, which aims to combat the effects that vandalism is causing in the city .

According to the mayor, not enough good intentions announced by the Mayor and the mayor of Obras de Lorca, but it is urgent to start taking seriously this problem that causes so much inconvenience and expense to the public treasury.

The first measure would be of a pedagogical nature, for which we would have to quantify what vandalism costs Lorca and then make campaigns to raise awareness among the population about these incivil actions of a few, which we have to pay for all, encouraging us to denounce everyone who witnesses any.

Another of the necessary measures would involve increasing surveillance and control of public spaces, especially those that suffer more from this problem, such as the Manterola or Las Alamedas walkway, sanctioning those responsible who are surprised or even considering the suitability of install security cameras in these places.

Therefore, it will submit the following agreements in said motion:

1. The local government will proceed to the specific quantification of the damage caused by any act of vandalism against public property that occurs in Lorca.

In the same way you will perform a quantification for each exercise.

They will be publicized through the media urging citizen collaboration for the defense of public assets and the persecution of these behaviors.

2.The local government will design, for its development during this year, days of defense of public space in the center of Lorca and its neighborhoods, in collaboration with neighborhood associations, youth, cultural, sports, etc.

3. The local government, in addition to triggering the sanctioning measures contained in its "municipal ordinance on protection of citizen coexistence and prevention of antisocial actions" for the prosecution of vandalism, will act judicially against those responsible for the aforementioned acts when it is legally possible .

4. The local government will entrust its technical services with a report that considers the economic and legal aspects of the opportunity to install security cameras in the public spaces of Las Alamedas and Pasarela del Guadalentín.
