According to a written response from the Mayor of January 23, 2018, about the Mercado del Sol project, an agreement signed between the City of Lorca and the Merchants Union of Lorca is made known, "by virtue of which the City Council granted a subsidy amounting to € 418,075.75 for the project of the so-called Market of San Clemente from the Plan to Improve Productivity and Competitiveness of Trade.

This subsidy was intended exclusively for "provision of furniture and commercial equipment" and should be justified after a maximum of three months of having completed the activity covered by this agreement.

Antonio Meca is surprised by the Mayor's response to other possible state or regional subsidies, saying that he "does not know", because "we think he should know if he has obtained them or not." And on the other hand we would like to know the amount of the investment total and the origin of the funds ".

On the other hand, the General Law of Subsidies 38/2003 of November 17, and its subsequent regulation Royal Decree 887/2006 of July 21, governs the subsidies granted by public administrations in accordance with the precepts contained in said Law.

For these reasons the Councilor for Citizens has submitted a letter requesting "the breakdown and sufficient and reliable documentation of the justification for the use of this subsidy, invoices, payment documents, etc. as established by the Law".
